Hello. I read this old thread (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28064264-Can-you-insert-a-switch-between-modem-and-router-) regarding connecting a compatible switch to your cable modem, and I would like to accomplish a similar goal. According to the thread, you need to have a switch that does not have a MAC address--at least, not a MAC address that the modem recognizes. This is due to modems limiting the number of devices you can connect to it to one device (limited to one MAC address).
The ZyXEL GS105S is mentioned as a switch that can be connected directly to your cable modem, due to the lack of a recognizable MAC address. I was wondering if there were any other models of switches that are similar in this aspect?
