Long story short:
Is there a way [aside from calling Comcast] to determine if a Comcast customer has a static IP?
Working with a small local business, they have an old SMC router. The way it is set up, seems like they have a dynamic IP. Yet, in their router they have port forwardings which would seem to indicate the DO have a static IP (I got bit by this because they have been dual-natting, and I didn't know about the port forwards initially). Also, their IP hasn't changed in 6 months at least that I know of.
Is there anyway I can be sure they have a static? This came about because of the need for them to change their current remote PC access scheme which currently doesn't need static IP.
I thought about plugging their current public IP into their router. IIRC doing that when you don't actually have static service won't work, but I can't remember for sure.
