I am moving to the chicago area in a few weeks, and of course I'll need to get internet setup.
Eventually, I want to get the 1gb plan and take advantage of the 1200mb overprovisioning.
This means the I either need a modem with a 2.5gb port or to use LACP. I think the 2.5gb port is obviously the more ideal option if possible.
In my mind, this leads me to the following choices:
(a) Buy a cheap docsis 3.0 modem and hope that MB8611 is just right around the corner so I can snag it.
(b) Buy a used MB8600 that is known to have the extra ports to support LACP. Perhaps eventually I can resell that and buy a MB8611.
(c) (Any other ideas?)
Both of these have downsides. I'm not really concerned about getting everything optimal right away because it will take me a bit of time to get infrastructure purchased and setup anyway.
It's too bad we have no idea how long it'll take for the new modem to get release.
