This is more of a rant, so I apologize if this is in the wrong area..
But, I work in a small town with a population of about 5,500. Several days ago I noticed all the utilities getting marked along the main drag and all the side streets. (Pretty much the whole town) I thought that was a bit odd. But didn't think much of it.. fast forward a few days I noticed signs from an ISP that I never heard of, saying the whole area is under construction for 100% fiber. Then this past Friday (yesterday) they had a bunch of crews out with ditch witches laying fiber.
So what gives? A small farming town of 5,500 is getting lit up with fiber, yet most of us that actually live in a bigger metro area can't get it? I have tried Comcast, AT&T, Metronet, and several others to no avail. Comcast basically laughed at me when I inquired about fiber internet. AT&T said there were plans for my area, but then backtracked on that claim.. Metronet has fiber literally a 1/2 mile from me.
