We have been using a Netgear cm1200 connected to a wired router. And been having problems nothing seemed to solve, not even getting our own drop to the street.
But today we connected our modem and router to a ups. It was intended more for the router than for the modem, but they both got it.
- Even though we only rarely have power outages, but reportedly our router could get it's firmware scrambled.
There were no power outages today, but after connecting the modem and router to the ups, our packet throughput from/to Comcast is much better.
I don't know what the explanation would be, maybe the ups providing a cleaner purer electric source to the equipment?
I don't know if this would help anyone else, and I wouldn't advise anyone else to get a ups just on my say-so. But if anyone out there already has a spare ups and unsolvable signal problems, maybe you could try it and either confirm or deny my report?
