I have a bit of a mystery that I can't seem to understand.
5 years ago, I had Comcast high speed internet for several months and it was working fine. Then, one day it just cut off out of the blue. Comcast came to my condo complex and checked everything and told me my internal wiring was very weak and they couldn't read any signal at all in my condo, but could down in the wiring closest (4 floors down). I found this very strange since it had been working perfectly for months.
I had to cancel my account because re-wiring the inside wiring to my unit was not possible with the condo HOA hassles, etc.
Fast forward to 5 years later, I decided to try to sign up for Comcast HSI again since they had a 30 day free trial and I was curious to try if it would work, but not at all confident that it would.
Lo and behold, it seems to work fine, at the promised speed.
So what changed in 5 years? Why does it work now when it totally cut out before? And what could have even made it stop working before?
My guesses are:
-Comcast has since boosted the signal on their end.
-They are now on DOCSIS3 and before it was DOCSIS2 (I think) which yielding a more reliable signal through the same weak wiring?
Anyone have thoughts?
