I got a separate letter from Comcast today along with my bill. "During review of our billing records it was determined that you are not being charged for all of the Comcast equipment you are using with the services to which you currently subscribe."
Comcast is removing my cablecard fee. Not quite sure why. i still have the cablecard and it still works fine. Only a $1.15 savings, but ok.
Comcast is adding a $7.00 modem rental fee for the modem which I own and have owned for the last 8 years. They did swap my original modem with an identical one of theirs 6 years ago. Maybe this confused them. After reading about prior Comcast confusion, I saved the trouble ticket from the swap.
Comcast is adding a $9.95 additional outlet fee. Apparently this is a fee for a set-top box which I don't have. I did return an extra non-HD box about 6 years ago. Maybe they forget I returned it. I still have the receipt for that equipment return as well.
I called Comcast customer service. The rep had no answers for me but took down all the information and said they would "investigate" and get back to me. The rep asked me what equipment I had (one HD-DVR, one cable card and 2 DTAs) and their records matched what I actually have.
I learned to keep all Comcast equipment return receipts after reading about problems others had here on DSL reports. It looks like these receipts may come in handy for me all these years later.
