[Equip] Question re: Cable Modem Throughput

Hey folks! Quick question, I am supposed to be getting the speed doubling sometime this month, and I had a Comcast Support tech mention I'd have to wait and see, because they might need to upgrade my equipment to an "XB3" modem to take advantage of the new speeds. The speeds we are talking about are in the 50-150 range (depending on if I upgrade my tier.) I have an Arris cm820a, and when I looked up the specs here: moto.arrisi.com/support/.../CM820_User_Guide_Std1-2.pdf it appears that my optimum downstream throughput should be about 340 Mbps and upstream a max of 140. So, should there be any reason I can't swing 50-100 without upgrading my equipment? My configuration is wall port -> Modem -> WRVS4400n router with Gigabit Ethernet WAN and LAN -> PC. Thanks folks!
