[Install] Just another "Extend the Plant Request" post.

Just wanted a place to keep all my notes about the process to get comcast to my (new to me) home. The house sits about 1/8 mile off the road where Comcast is on poles on the other side of the street. Telephone poles run back to the house with power and phone but no cable.(no DSL in the area) Called 8/26/2014 and signed up for the 2 year agreement with the X1 DVR and Internet. I explained on the phone that I do not think service is at the house but i know it is at the road. Woman explained they had a different name on the address so there must have been service at one time. Scheduled a tech for 9/3/2014 Tech comes out on 9/8/2014 and asks if Comcast has ever had service here. I tell him that I don't think so and that I just moved in. He walks around the house and up the driveway and then goes to his truck. Comes back 20 minutes later and explains that it looks like the previous owner tried numerous times before (the last time was in 2012) I asked if he knew why it was never completed but he did not know. He then tells me that he will submit the paperwork to start the plant extension process. He tells me usually they will run up to 1/4 mile on their dime but not to quote him on that. So now the waiting game starts. For now I am using my phone as a hotspot but that will get old real quick. Anyone have any pointers to help me stay in the loop? Should I find a local office to call? Backup plan 1: If they will not extend the plant. Do you think they would give me a drop or tap at the end of my driveway across the street from the pole? At which point getting the internet to my house can be my issue and no theirs? Backup Plan 2: If they wont do that I have a business that is close to me that I was considering approaching. Basically I would ask to have a second line terminate on their premise that would be billed to my name and I would setup a modem and a high powered wifi bridge to my house. Again just a place to keep my info. Thanks for reading.
