Hi,
I'm having an issue with my internet connection it keeps dropping about every 20 minutes and restating our modem but not fully resetting it I have to manually reboot it to reconnect. This problem started yesterday when I had the great idea to rework our home network. Originally our modem and router were in the living room but I decided to move them to the garage to have a better connection for my PS4 that is in a room adjacent to the garage. I didn't think this would be an issue as our coax comes in at the garage splits and goes off to the other rooms. So the modem is still in the same branch on the trunk just less cable. The garage is considerably colder then the inside of the house I'd say about 40 degrees this is the only thing i can think that is causing the resetting. I've moved the modem and router back in the house and its working fine again.
Things I've tried.
New coax from splitter to modem in garage
new splitter in garage
Tried a different outlet for the modems and routers power
tried a different router
had comcast resend signal in new location
modem
Scientific Atlantic (Cisco) DPC2100R2
Routers
Buffalo WZR-D1800H
BuffaloWHR-300HP2D
Any suggestions would be great, if anyone can confirm that the change in temp is affecting the modem would a new modem work better I know the one we have is old and not Docsis 3.0
OH I also opened my NAT up for my PS4 if that would cause any issues. But I did do it the right way with a static IP and separate port forwards not a DMZ.
