I installed my own SB-6141 modem about 6 months ago and everything was working great until today. I first noticed a loss of two HD TV channels after two hours of steadily increasing tiling/pixellation, and just for fun decided to check my Internet connection. I typically get 120 Mb down and 11 Mb up. Imagine my surprise when I got 3 Mb down and 11 Mb up. I immediately checked my modem pages and noticed that while my signal levels were only up 1 dB for upstream (46, 44, and 48 db) and downstream (3-4 dB), the codeword error counters were off the charts on all 8 channels being reported. My total correctable codeword counts are significantly higher than the total unerrored codeword counts and my total uncorrectable codeward counts are increasing at a rate of about 200 per second on each of my 8 channels, based on refreshing the signal page every 5 seconds. I also am running PingPlotter and seeing 100% packet loss bursts every few minutes, although my ping times are actually very good. I am pinging from my location to the Comcast backbone connection in Ashburn, VA.
I have a service call scheduled for day after tomorrow. What should I tell the Comcast tech. when they get to my house?
