Would appreciate some feedback on switching from Comcast Business Internet to a residential product. I'm in Northern California in a private residence and have had business class service for about 7 years now. Had 50/10 service for years with Static IP, but downgraded to 16/3 because of cost ($110 per month plus outrageous price for Static IP's and modem rental). I had the service since at one time I ran a number of servers, but this business need has generally past. I now pay $70/month. Don't think I have any contract lock in (but not sure where I find that out).
Not using any other of their bundle (outlook, sharepoint, etc.).
I am running a small server to host some HTML pages, but I could get rid of it if this violates some sort of terms of service.
Reason to switch would be it seems I could save money and get higher connection speed using residential service. Family seems to be doing a lot of streaming, and 16/3 does not seem to cut it anymore. I also run a Slingbox to remotely stream media and the 3 up hurts performance. It looks like Xfinity Performance with blast is 105/10 for $45/month.
Comcast business has been pretty reliable in my neighborhood (maybe a couple of incidents/year) and the call center when I had problems were pretty quick to resolve. I've got my own modem (Motorola SB6141) and router.
So, would appreciate feedback on what I'd be giving up if I switched and any advice and concerns about switching over.
Thanks in advance!
