Over the past few months I've noticed a significant downgrade in my upload rates coming from certain PC's. Not surprisingly, its the PC I stream to Twitch from or my Xbox One console (also streams). I'm currently subscribed to the 50 down/10 up plan from Comcast here in Chicago, but here's what I'm experiencing:
- Streaming PC wired directly into the modem: runs at ~30/3
- Laptop over wifi: runs at 50/10
- Laptop plugged in using the same port and cable from the PC: runs at 50/10
- Xbox One wifi is all over the place now and with a recent modem swap
Please note I'm testing through testmy.net to get a single threaded test as the multithreaded flash-based sites all return 50/10 for everything. I'm tired of fighting with the phone support and wasting so much time with in house tech appointments for no resolution. I've tried a battery of..
- swapping cables
- swapping ports
- swapping modems
- swapping network cards
- swapping drivers
I don't have any other machines plugged into the modem, there is no extra router in the network configuration. The last time I swapped modems out, it corrected itself for about 6 hours and hasn't done back since over the last week. Any ideas on how I can pinpoint what's really going on here? I'm stumped at this point.
