I've had my new SB6183 up and running for about 2 days now. First thing I did was check the speed at speedtest.comcast.net and of course, it was the same as I expected. I have 25/5 service and usually always get 30/6, so nothing changed. I just wanted the 16 down channels, well, because they were there.
Right off the bat I noticed that all my video's on all web site ran smoother with no lag or any pausing. I though it was psychological and really wanted to make sure it was not my imagination playing "Oh... new modem better performance" tricks. This all running wireless to my laptop. Nothing else has changed, same Netgear WNDR3400v2 router and Toshiba older laptop.
Well I can say now that yes everything is 'snappier' on the web pages and the videos are perfectly smooth with the SB6183 versus the 5341J.
I can only 'assume' the addition of the extra 8 downstream channels is the difference.
My observation.
