I've been playing Mechwarrior Online for the last 3 months, and didn't have any connection issues up until about 3 weeks ago. The game client is now frequently disconnecting me from the game server and giving me this error:
CGameRules::OnDisconnect: Client has disconnected: cause=eDC_ICMPError, desc=Remote disconnected: Unreachable address 173-163-251-102-busname.stockton.hfc.comcastbusiness.net:64636
The game company said it looks like my connection is at fault. Looking at the error message, it seems to say the game servers could not locate a particular Comcast server in order to route the signal back to me.
Unfortunately, I am not a direct Comcast customer. My ISP leases his backbone from Comcast, so I have a couple hops before getting into Comcast. My ISP is not seeing anything on his end that would cause the disconnects that I have been getting, and no one else is reporting any issues to him, and I am not having any issues with any other games or applications, just this one.
To me, it is either the particular route to get to and from the game servers that could be a problem (Comcast runs the signal from near Stockton to Fresno to San Jose then peers with Tata Communications to run the signal to Toronto), or it is an issue with the game company's servers dropping or not correctly directing the signal back to me. I've been running Pingplotter to try and isolate where the problem might be coming from, but I don't see anything definitive yet.
If anyone has suggestions at this point, that would be great...thanks!
(or let me know if this is in the wrong forum!)
