I have 4 TV's & (1) modem connected to an 8-way indoor splitter in an ON-Q box. The Modem was constantly losing it's online & telephone lights. Rebooting was no longer resetting it.
I bypassed the 8-way splitter & connected the Comcast "feed" connected directly to the modem. Worked flawlessly. Then I connected "feed" to the TV's & modem via a 4-way splitter that I had lying around & still all is fine.
Q #1: Is it safe to assume that the 8-way splitter is bad -or- could the other coax runs (with no TV's on them) on the 8-way splitter be loading down a weak signal
Q2: What are the spec's that a replacement splitter should have?
Q3: Does a 5-bedroom home with (so far) 4 TV's need a distribution amp to maintain signal strength/quality?
Q4: Can the splitter be tested with a digital VOM ?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!
