I have had a DSL line for years. I went for DSL 15 years ago before my subdivision was wired for cable (I have Dish network equipment for TV). I want to switch to Broadband for my internet service (considering Comcast Blast). My house has all necessary internal wiring for cable (RG6) and cat5e for internet. I assume (yes I know what it means), that I need a coax cable burial from street to my house and a coax run to a location for a modem in order to switch to broadband internet. Can anyone tell me what Comcast charges to run a coax from street to a single drop in my house. (I have a two story over a full basement so installation should be fairly simple).
Also, as I know I will need to trash my dsl router and two wireless access points, can anyone recommend a quality Broadband Modem/Router or is the one comcast ships with the self-install sufficient to operate a home network of 3 wired desktops, and 3 or 4 smartphones and/or tablets? Any information / suggestions would be appreciated.
I live in Metro Atlanta area and Comcast is only game in town for Broadband.
