At a site I manage with Comcast Business I need a static IP but I also need the modem bridged. I use my own Cisco firewall and have VPNs to various other sites and cloud locations so nothing can work unless I have a static IP/bridged setup. Comcast support are however absolutely adamant that if I get a static IP the modem cannot be bridged but they can bridge it if I have a dynamic address.
I got this same answer from two different techs and from an escalated engineer at Comcast. At the moment I am setup with dynamic IP and bridged mode and everything is working however once their dynamic IP changes all my VPNs will fail so obviously not a long term solution.
So am I getting correct information from Comcast as it just does not seem right to me? I ask as I manage another site with Comcast business and it has a static and its modem is bridged and all works exactly as I need it to.
thank you!
