Following up on my post from a few weeks ago, we had a tech come out today. I explained the problem that we were having (frequent modem reboots and Internet drop-outs), and his solution was to add a line filter to the back of the modem.
This improved the downstream power levels, but did nothing to fix the high upstream power level, which still ranges from 51-54 dBmV. I'm surprised he didn't notice that the upstream power level was way too high when he connected his meter to our line. He seemed to only pay attention to the downstream level.

Does anyone have any other possible solutions? Comcast has been no help each time I've called and they've sent a tech out. In doing some research online, it seems that an active-return amplifier is the solution to high upstream power level issues. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'd rather not spend $50 on an amplifier if it won't solve the problem.
