Hi there, I've recently moved over the last week to a new house and before setting anything up of my own. There is the coax cable leading from outside into our basement which leads into a 4 output splitter that has coax cables leading back out of the house and into the 4 bedrooms upstairs. These coax cables were recently installed within the last half a year to a year ago by the owner and they go into the wall, where they're attached to a wall outlet (coax female to female adapter).
Now when I starting setting things up here I attached a 1 foot coax cable into the wall adapter which leads into our modem. Then a 1-2 foot Ethernet cable from modem to router, next I had to do some drilling so that 2 of our ethernet cables could go downstairs while the other 2 go through the ceiling into our attic. The two cables going downstairs drop through the corner of our living room, one cable stays there (used for our smart tv connection/xbox/ps4, switch it out when needed). The other one continues into the basement where it travels around a corner for a few feet before going into our sun room area that's near the living room (this is for our mothers work computer connection).
Before I continue with the rest of the cables.. I've read about making sure to keep ethernet cables a foot or two away from any other electrical wiring and uv lighting. The one that connects to my mothers work computer does get a bit close to another cable, what I might be able to do instead if it's a major concern is pull the cable back into the living room and hide it within the corners under the carpet instead.
Now for the cables going into the attic, there's a bit of other electrical wires up there leading to ceiling lights, between the walls, etc. Right now I've tried to keep both away from any wires but they're still hidden under insulation that I lifted and fitted back. What I was thinking if it sounds like an issue is that I could get a few D hooks or J hooks and hang the ethernet cables up towards the roof of the attic instead, which would get them far away from the other wiring. One cable leads into another bedroom that's about 15-20 feet away and goes into my brothers gaming computer and the other cable goes into my bedroom from the attic, about 25-30 feet away.
Since explaining my setup is out of the way now, I have concern because now that we're almost finished moving everything over here giving us some time to relax a bit. I've noticed while our internet doesn't cut out or lose connection.. I'm noticing that my normal ping at times is acting a bit odd. The other night I was playing a game online and normally my ping to the server is avg around 70-80 but I noticed it jumped to 110-120 and stayed like that for a good 20-30mins or so, then to make sure it wasn't just the game servers ping.. in discord while in a chat channel my normal ping avg of 40 went upwards to 70-80 range. Taking it one step further I did a speed test to the normal Chicago comcast host I do tests with where I get a normal 15-17 ping and it had me at 30-34 ping instead, while downloads/uploads speeds seemed about how they normally are sitting at.
I'm just wondering if with my setup here at this new house if anything sounds off or odd and needs checked out? I also know that before while having more then one of us gaming before moving here we'd not have any ping spike moments even with both of us in voip and heavy gaming. Below I'll list our modem/router along with a few pictures of what I can take without going into the attic.. in less I need to do that D/J hook setup, then i'll take pictures of the end result for that.
Modem: netgear CM600
router: netgear WNDR4500v3

(using 2 75ft ones for the two going into attic, 1 30-35ft one leading to living room tv area, 1 50ft one to basement back into sun room area)
