A few days ago, I returned home from a vacation to find that my RCN cable internet service was not working. Not only that- when I opened a web browser, it would take me to a Xfinity self-activation page! A Comcast tech had apparently cut the coax to my apartment (the remnants of which were still on the floor in the floor's utility closet) and replaced it with a Comcast line- and I have no idea why!
I called up Comcast tech support (as well as my own), spoke with a couple people in India, but they couldn't promise to send anyone out quickly. I also spoke with my building's Comcast sales rep and she told me - this is a direct quote - "no way Comcast will send a technician." Finally, after 3 days Comcast sent someone out to repair their error.
I understand that internet service is generally "best effort", and customer contracts indemnify the company from outage-related issues, but I am not nor have I ever been a Comcast customer.
What is the best office to contact to seek consideration/compensation, given the fact that I couldn't do assigned work from home and actually lost salary because of it. I don't want to go the small claims route but I might have to...
