I tried to login to the modern using admin/Motorola for the credentials, without success. The screen flashes back to the login block.
Have the credentials changed from the ones shown in a Google search?
I used 192.168.100.1:8080 to access the login screen.
Thanks.

5Ghz wifi drops every evening - Update
Comcast came out and replaced my gateway. I had the x6, now have the x7. It solved one problem but seems to have created another. My pings are now fine, as are my wifi speeds. But now, instead of having a 0-2 jitter, it is routinely 50, resulting in some lag. Anything I can do about this? The only other thing the tech did was replace an old MOCA filter at my entry point to a newer one. Given that I have only one wired x1 box, and a wireless xi6 box, do I even need my MOCA network enabled? Suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

What is instant TV? Why is it on my account?

This is not posted in the TV section because I don't have TV.

Annoying: XB7 modem automatically turns off bridge mode
How do I prevent the XB7 modem from automatically disabling bridge mode after briefly losing internet connection? When bridge mode is disabled, it breaks the connected router's port-forwarding rules. I have to manually enable bridge mode each time.

XB6 - What is going on with 160 MHz Channel Bandwidth?
I had my XB6 replaced a while back after contacting support because WiFi settings were no longer accessible. They sent me a replacement modem to fix the issue, although I knew the modem wasn't the issue. The replacement was supposed to be an XB7 but another XB6 was shipped instead. At least the replacement wasn't locked out and we were getting approximately 600-900 Mbps with control over the WiFi settings.
Recently, the WiFi speeds have dropped down to a peak of 300 Mbps. Now the gateway's settings are not disabled, but not matter what I select for manual settings the gateway always goes back to Channel 44. For the bandwidth the 160 MHz continues to show selected but the clients are connecting at 80 MHz.
I found a post on reddit saying the blocked settings were part of the xFi Complete package. However, I don't have the xFi Complete package.
Is there any solution other than getting my own equipment? I know that's a popular option on here but I've come to like the simplicity of the setup, especially that it works really well. At least when comcast doesn't muck it up.

[Equip] Which modem is better Arris T25 or S33
I just downgraded my triple play to a double play so I no longer need the T25 (could possibly sell it or give it to a friend as one of my friends is renting their gateway). Does anyone have any experience with the Arris S33. I have the performance pro plus.

New modem activation / Forced app usage?
Curious if anyone else out there has encountered this. I had a friend try to set up a new modem on their account, and the only page that displays now is one telling them to download the xfinity app on their phone, and then put the phone on wifi and do the activation through there. I did a modem swap like 6 months ago, and I was still able to just sign into my account through the browser and activate the new modem. I tried every URL we could find and wasn't able to find a way to just get to that page. Does anyone know if you can still do a browser activation or are we now forced to use a phone app to setup a modem?
EDIT: So we figured it out. The link at the bottom of the page that says:
"If you are in a WIFI Ready apartment(pre-installed xFi Gateway) or activating your Xfinity Voice click here to begin."
If you did click on the "here" button, that will give you the sign in page. It does still work for normal modem activations even if you don't have Xfinity Voice or any of the other stuff it's talking about. They were able to activate a new user owned modem on an existing account.

[WiFi] Suggestions for buying my own modem so that I can disable 5Ghz?
Hello,
Because of my home theater setup I need to disable 5GHz from the router provided to me by Xfinity. This is because the wireless rear speakers are cutting out when the router is on. Unplug the router, wireless rear speakers work fine. Turn on the router: rear speakers cut out.
Since Comcast/Xfinity does not allow for disabling 5Ghz, I cannot use my home theater.
I'd like to purchase my own modem, but the combo modem/router from Comcast/Xfinity will continue to broadcast 5Ghz wi-fi signal in my home, making the wireless rear speakers from my home theater useless.
Can anyone suggest a combo modem/router so I can plug in coax from Xfinity and disable 5Ghz?
Thanks,
Murph

Unlimited data for 6 mos offer
I'm curious how you folks interpret this statement on the following XFi unlimited data offer page, I reached this page by clicking on the "Learn More" link on my account page that shows my own data usage so I'm assuming it does apply to me and is not for new subs only.
"USING YOUR OWN MODEM + ROUTER?
Add unlimited data after checkout for $0/mo for the first 6 months, then regular rates apply (currently $30/mo)."
https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/data?CMP=ILC:PD:BAU:ALL:COM:GEN:INT:NA5f495019eb20f
It's located very nearly at the bottom of the content portion of the page. I have my own router and modem so I'm wondering if this allows me to get unlimited data for free for 6 mos and if not, what does it really mean?

Service in Lynchburg, VA a good choice?
My mother in law has been paying $90 a month for 1.2Mbps or less service with Verizon and I would like to move her out of the dark ages.
The only other provider here seems to be Xfinity. I was going to set her up with an Arris SBG10 and the 300 Mbps internet only plan but she is concerned about Comcast's negative reputation.
What say the horde? Is it worth the potential pain?

fine print tricks to avoid
Hello friends,
QUESTION: How long does one have to be a non-customer to qualify for a new customer offer, please & thank you?
Before posting, I looked at the website pretty hard and could not find this vital detail.
Otherwise, the details are (a) same physical address and (b) same old/new customer name.
The ONLY issue this question seeks to resolve is the minimum time "off-grid," so to speak, that is required to qualify for a NEW customer offer
With kindest regards, Ugly

making this all work
I've got a Comcast Performance cable connection, rated by Comcast for 200 Mbps.
However there are a couple of speed tests recently done that come in about half that, although in fairness the upload is very good and there is a VPN involved too.

and

I'm writing to ask if this is a reasonable performance?
And if there may be ways to improve it somewhat even?
Thank you and kindest regards, Ugly

activating MOCA network
I have an X7gateway communicating to an xi6 wireless box. I have a few minor daily glitches with the Xi6 that I am told may be a result of my MOCA network not being active. When I go into the gateway to turn it on, after I click enable, I get a message popping up about waiting for a bit while some back end things are competed. It then returns to the "Disabled" state. It doesn't matter how many times I try to enable it, or what devices I restart; I get the same message. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

[Equip] New Modem - Motorola MB8600 vs Arris Surfboard SB8200?
I'm on a gigabit plan with a Comcast CMG4140COM in bridge mode connected to a Ubiquiti ER-X. These modems have an issue where they top out at 400-600Mbps in bridge mode, so I'm looking to buy a replacement to take full advantage of the gigabit speed (I've confirmed ~950Mbps when not in bridge mode).
I've narrowed my options down to either the Motorola MB8600 or the Arris Surfboard SB8200. I've done a lot of research and from what I can tell they're very similar, but as a 'tinkerer', I wanted to get the opinion of others who also care about things like frequency of firmware updates and other technical aspects people like us might care about.
Is there any reason to go with one over the other?
