[Speed] Node Congestion Question

I’ve had Blast Internet for quite some time with a Motorola 6120. About 4 months ago almost every evening my download slows down to 15-20/11 mbps. Comcast gave me a free promo of Extreme 105/20 for 6 months today. I was able to get 72/22 at 6 PM, but now it’s back to 15-20mpbs/22 this evening. I’ve let it go for 4 months, because the slowdown isn’t unbearable as the congestion management system appears to be keeping the congestion from impacting latency (unless I’m downloading). Any guess on how much improvement I would see buying a new 8x or even a 16x modem when it is available? What do you recommend would be the best way to proceed? Will Comcast recognize the congestion on their own and resolve it, or would it help to call in a ticket as well as encourage neighbors to do the same? Thank you
