I posted a thread here a few months back about trying to get Comcast extended to my house, the line terminated about 600' from me. After some back and forth with Comcast, a figure of almost $1,400 to extend the service, me contacting the county (thanks to users here recommending I do so) and finding out that I should be covered under the existing service agreement. I finally receieved confirmation this morning that Comcast are working in the area and should be complete in a few weeks. I had my suspicions last week when a reel of what appears to be burial grade coax appeared in my front yard, but now I have confirmation on them working in the area.
Hopefully not much longer until I can say goodbye to my 1.5MB connection! While it was adequate for browsing, working from home some days could be a nightmare, and watching most streaming video was awful.
What's kind of funny is that CenturyLink are due to complete installing fiber lines at the end of the month, that are about 1/4 mile from my house that may improve my speed with them as well. Will be nice to have a choice out here in the sticks.
So, in short... if you think you should be able to get high speed, keep chasing people until you get somewhere. I believe it was July last year that I started this journey!
