Hi -
I recently switched from Frontier Uverse to Comcast triple play.
The installer gave us an XB3 - and used it to hook up the phone line.
I would like to try to put it in bridge mode and use my own router. I've read that people have had issues with this....but some have solved them by turning the wifi radios off prior to switching to bridge mode.
My question is - will putting it in bridge mode screw up our VOIP? Or will the modem portion still work as it should? And if I have issues will switching it out of bridge mode bring me back to where I was before? I just want to make sure I don't screw something up that needs a technician to come out to replace the XB3 (at least in our area all X1 stb replacements require a tech to come out...no self installs).
And if I have problems with the bridge mode, is there a good 8x4 or 16x4 EMTA modem that is compatible with Comcast - and that they will allow me to switch my number to?
I'm not happy that X1 satellite boxes are unable to pause or rewind live TV and although I've read a lot of threads here, I'm not sure if I need an Arris box, an X2 box or something else to get pause/rewind of live TV. I live in ct.
Thanks for your help.
