I have internet and home phone with Comcast. A couple years ago I bought my own cable modem for internet to get rid of their modem rental fee on my bill, and kept using their modem just for the home phone, as they did not charge a modem rental fee if you did this.
However, on my bill this month the $10/month modem rental fee has returned to my bill. I am still using their modem just for the phone service. I never received any notice that they were changing their policy to require the rental fee just for phone service. Has Comcast changed their policy on this, or have they billed me the rental fee by mistake?
UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Comcast. The first girl I talked to played dumb and said she had never heard of this situation before and that she thought everyone had to pay the rental fee. I asked to speak to a manager and he said it was a billing mistake and that they would remove the modem rental fee and credit my bill for the $10.
