One coax connection. Don't even run TV. Just use Comcast for broadband on 2 PCs. Nothing else sharing the connection but a rarely used smart phone on wifi (just for weather updates and email notifications). ------------------------------------------------- Questions... 1. Is this a problem with the cable to my home? 2. Comcast hardware? I ask because years ago I got the run around for 2 years (many truck rolls; 2 lines even installed) until the front-end exploded and Comcast fixed it when the entire neighborhood's cable went down. -------------------------------------------------- Two days ago my sis was online and the internet just stopped for her. I woke up and noticed the modem would drop it's signal. Recycling. Called Comcast after 3hrs thinking they're working on someone's box. They say there's no outage and that my modem is EOL. Buy a new modem that night (Motorola MB6800) and hook it up to the router. Called and registered my modem. Internet came back on ... but download speed is slow as molasses now, but upload speeds are fine and to spec. Speed tests show the d/l speed to be at *7*mbps. This is consistent. Doesn't go higher or lower remains within 7mbps. Upload speed is as advertised. Prior to this (about 3 months ago) the neighbor had to remove some fencing. When he did our cable was cut. Comcast came over and spliced the cable. So, are those signals due to bad wiring by that cable line being cut and spliced; or something else like their hardware?
