[E-mail] Beware of a phishing attempt purporting to be from Comcast

Wow - received THREE of these "accounting invoices" today in one of my CC secondary email accounts -- and all referencing a different invoice number, lol. When I ran it through SpamCop, one of the reporting addresses IS abuse{at}Comcast.net -- another is a Russian domain. YES, I reported them to Comcast Security Assurance. Has something to do with "cheap bill pay" according to SpamCop resolving a link. MODS: If I left any identifying info in the header, please advise so I can remove it. Thanks. Comcast Speed Test Low Results?

$

Comcast speed test has always returned low latency values and high download speeds (ie 15 ms, 229 Mbps). For the past week or so it's been 60 ms and 60 Mbps. By comparison all other speed test sites including dsl reports speed test results are low ping and high download speed. Are there issues with Comcast in Foxboro, MA?

[Speed] Issues with gigabit service

Hello, Had gigabit service installed a week ago and had my SB8200 provisioned from Comcast EO like others have, but I am getting such large range of speed on my downloads. Sometimes I'll get 55Mbps on speedtest, others 250Mbps, then very few times, 910Mbps. Here's a screenshot of a recent status from my modem. The tech that installed my service had a lot of issues getting the XB6 gateways to work, but when he found one that worked, he was off. I think there is something wrong with my line, as I get these speeds when connected directly to my computer as well. I did notice my 7 and 8 channels unlocking a few times. The tech put on a CSMAPDU5VP amplifier and didn't put any terminators on the empty outlets. I did that, but it didn't change anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Added the event log as well.

[Signals] Upstream power levels are going up again with the heat

I check in on my signals every so often and with the heat ramping up I think I am going to be reinstalling my Commscope active amp to lower my signals down. I have a unbalanced 3 way splitter on there now to balance the downstream power levels down to +3, but I'm pushing up to 50. Does anyone else have any other recommendations? This is the only reasonable way to get them in check that I know of especially since I don't have any other splits except for the one behind the entertainment center.

DPC 3941T utopia.net for Connection Specific DNS Server

Here is what happened this afternoon, had a period of sites saying page cannot be displayed, so rebooted the gateway, after it came back up, showed utopia.net for Connection Specific DNS server for a good 2-3 minutes, then a short little disconnect, and then back to regular Comcast specific dns server Is this normal or a security risk with the Gateway?

Hello, in my house there is already a comcast connection with a Xfinity modem/router. Yesterday I attached a third party brand cable modem and it works. I got an ip address. Can Comcast spot that there are 2 modems connected from the same home ? Can they make an inspection inside the house ? thanks Robert

Please choose what modem you lease or own. If you have two modems: 1 for HSI & 1 for CDV, choose the one you use for HSI. If you don't see your modem, choose "Other". [EOL] End Of Life Modems are not included. **Note that some models may be EOL for leased option and not retail. Any corrections needed I will do my best to fix them. ;) **This Poll is intended to give members information about what modems Xfinity/Comcast customers are using. [NodePlus0] General Discussion of N+0 deployment activity

$

I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

[Signals] Modem readings Zoom 5341J

The image shows my current readings. They look fine to me but it's been awhile since I've checked and I'm not positive what the optimum numbers should be. I'm asking as I've recently had a problem with Netflix running fine at a 1080p/high bitrate clip and then suddenly dropping all the way down to sometimes less than 1 Mbps with a 188 resolution; worse than any early YouTube I can remember. This started about a month or so ago and I have tried everything that I can think of to remedy it. The device being used is a TiVo Roamio Pro and it's been rock solid up until just recently. An example of what happens is that I'll watch 3 episodes in a row and then during the 4th episode I start getting the dropouts, sometimes several during the episode. Other times it will start with the very first episode, some nights it won't happen at all. Very frustrating. So I thought I'd ask the community what they think, thanks! Currently, the TiVo is connected with a homerun directly to one of the 4 ports on an Asus Rt-N66W. My Comcast HSI speed is 100(+) download. P.S. If this is the wrong forum maybe a mod could move it, thanks.

Got Docsis 3.1 Gigabit with Technicolor today, have questions

$

My installers gave me a Technicolor modem and a Netgear R8000. My speeds are fine. I went ahead and put my Netgear R7000 back online and cloned the MAC address because I am running dd-wrt. I will look into the Netgear firmware since it does have OpenVPN and vlan capabilities, but I do run a cron job or 2 on dd-wrt which means I would have to run those cron jobs from another device. Download speeds with dd-wrt are 396.1 down and 41.8 up which is just fine for me. My questions.... 1. I am able to login to the Technicolor interface. It is the same IP address as my Zoom 5341J. However, I do not find a place to reset the password after searching the internet on the TC4400. Am I missing something obvious? 2. I have 24 downstream QAM 256 channels. I don't see any OFDM info. Is that normal? 3. My upstream has the following power levels which seem really low even though the speed and connection is fine. When I checked the 5341J last night, the range was from about 34.6 to probably 38.7. Is this a problem? Channel Lock Status US Channel Type Channel ID Symbol Rate Frequency Power 1 ATDMA 5120 Ksym/sec 16600000 Hz 26.3 dBmV 2 ATDMA 5120 Ksym/sec 35800000 Hz 31.3 dBmV 3 ATDMA 5120 Ksym/sec 29400000 Hz 30.3 dBmV 4 ATDMA 5120 Ksym/sec 23000000 Hz 28.8 dBmV 4. [Signals] SB8200 Power and Signal levels

Just hooked up a new SB8200 to replace the SB6190 excuse of a modem. After having Comcast activate the modem I cannot get the Blast Pro speeds that I subscribe to. All the lights on the 8200 are still green and now Comcast is telling me that the lights are not suppose to be blue. I then asked the CSR why the SB6190 had 2 blue lights on it he could not answer that. They then schedule a service call for me. Are the signal and power levels in sync or out of spec. I do not understand all the tech stuff dealing with signal and power settings. Please see attach screen shot of the modem's signal and power levels. Thanks

As mentioned in this recent DSLR news item https://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Comcast-Prepares-For-Mid2017-Wireless-Service-Launch-139048 , Comcast is planning a mid-year launch of their wireless service. Comcast announced today that they will be providing the details on this new service on Thursday: Comcast to Host Analyst Event to Discuss Launch of Mobile Initiative Comcast press release, Business Wire - April 3, 2017 http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20170403005198/en/Comcast-Host-Analyst-Event-Discuss-Launch-Mobilequote:On Thursday, April 6, 2017, Comcast will host an analyst event to discuss the details of its previously announced mobile initiative, which utilizes an existing MVNO agreement. The launch has been slated for sometime later this year. : Last week, FierceWireless reported that Comcast is quietly partnering with Apple as it prepares to launch wireless service under the brand Xfinity Mobile: http://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/comcast-quietly-taps-iphone-ahead-launch-xfinity-mobile The cable giant’s name has been added to behind-the-scenes - but publicly available - code that lists carrier bundles for the iPhone. The list of carrier bundles is used by iTunes and iPhones to determine whether the iPhone’s SIM is supported by a service provider with whom Apple has an agreement, then provisions the phone accordingly. The iPhone's latest list of carrier bundles includes "Verizon_Comcast_LTE_US," and mentions the service "Xfinity Mobile." A source pointed out the reference to FierceWireless, and a different source with knowledge of the matter confirmed that Comcast has indeed partnered with Apple ahead of the launch of Xfinity Mobile. connection issue

Hi. I'm in Palo Alto CA. I used to have a Zyxel BRG35503, and I was getting No Ranging Response Received messages a few times a day. On the off chance that it was my modem, and because I wanted to switch to DOCSIS 3.1 anyway, I purchased and set up a Netgear CM1000. I'm still getting those messages, but I think that they're happening less frequently (perhaps 1 time per day). Is this normal or does it indicate a problem? (in other words, could this just be a result of routine daily maintenance by Comcast?) I have no splitters whatsoever between the modem and the drop. There is a single RG6 cable that is plugged into the modem, and the other end is at the MPOE. [Plan] Side Discussion on DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit service

Mod Note: This topic started as "XI Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 - data cap with 3-year agreement?" It has become a general discussion of this deployment, hence the title change. uid://455626 If you actually have had this service installed, the stickied report topic is here. > https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30960001-Speed-Report-DOCSIS-3-1-Gigabit-Service-Here If you report, please include info requested in the first post and keep that topic strictly on topic. Thanks, sortofageek The XI Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 is now available in my area. I am tempted to sign up. Early reports said unlimited data with a 3-year agreement. The Comcast website says nothing but the typical disclaimer about the data usage plan. I don't want to sign a 3-year agreement for a plan with a data cap. Does anyone know if the XI Gigabit service is subject to the data usage nonsense? [Install] Comcast MDU Fiber

Posting some pictures of a Comcast MDU build out. My company ran the fiber to the units and conduit between floors. Comcast has a contractor that comes in and installs the termination equipment and runs to the basement.

I'm in the Chicagoland area, and here's what I'm seeing on the status page of my SB6141: I'm receiving "DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost" then "Lost MDD Timeout" and finally "MDD Recovery following MDD Loss". I have a few less downstream channels and one strange upstream channel (three are fine) with a Ranging Status of "Continue." Downstream stats look fine... upstream is at 54dB. :/ These warnings happen more than once per minute. Sometimes I'll see a downstream channel that shows up until the next refresh. Speeds are intermittent. Any ideas?

Please read in its brief entirety. I live in Rome, GA and have Internet through Comcast. The last mile is AT&T. I subscribe to the 10/1 tier through Comcast. I have NEVER been able to get more than 2 down. Comcast came out and replaced all the outside wiring (it was a mess) and then a Comcast truck showed up and made markings on the grass and road running from the pole about 1 mile away to the gray box that terminates then runs to the various trailers including mine which looks to be 4. What I intend to do is run tracerts to the servers to see how much are Comcast\AT&T then present the documentation to them. I will also document downloads that support a max of 2 down. Not quite sure yet how I will do this. I have tested this directly connected to the modem and at various times throughout the day and night as well as on different days. The whole reason to do this is that I am paying for one thing and getting only 1\5th of it. If anyone can offer any constructive suggestions please do. TIA, Avantare

Thanks.
