Hello everybody. I hope someone can help me out. I have comcast 150/20 connection tier. I get 180 down and 24 up most of the time. My speed is consistent and my ping where is live is 8 to 12 not bad at all. But my BufferBloat is 500ms to 3200ms it is awful. I can't play gaming online much because of the bufferbloat. I have called comcast over 20 time in the last 3 yrs to try and get my bufferbloat fixed. Can anyone out there help me???? Comcast techs are clueless to what bufferbloat is and they send me techs to my house and they say, "hey your speed is great and your ping is great." But i show them the bufferbloat test and they are like uuuhh i don't know what to do. I get a fail on bufferbloat test all the time. Can anyone help me on how to talk with comcast to fix the problem. I would really appreciate any response. Please help Pleassssse.

[Signals] internet drops off everyday at the same time
Hi,
I've just signed up for CC internet and it works great when it is up but for the period between 1-4pm, it is very unstable, it goes in & out frequently. What could cause this issue? I am using SB6121 modem. See my attachment for the signal level. Any suggestion or should I go and cancel the service and try the AT&T? TIA.

[WiFi] Bypass app requirement for XFINITY on mobile device?
I connect my laptop to XFINITY wifi and I login and it works.
I do the same on an Android phone and it says "To access the internet, you will need to install the XFINITY WiFi app."
How can I bypass this?

[Connectivity] 850 feet away from cable?
My husband and I bought a house, listing said it was cable ready and even Comcast confirmed this when I inquired about transferring service prior to closing.
We called to get service set up and a tech came out and told us we have no service.
Fast forward 3 months and I was told by Comcast business that it will cost $50,000 in construction costs to go 850 feet or $55/foot. This seems insanely high to me.
What other options do I have?
Century link is "full" and satellite won't work for me because I need to VPN for work.
Thank you in advance!

[Mobile] Pricing?
Am I reading this site right? for the new comcast mobile plan if I already have internet I get unlimited calling and texting without a line access fee? and if I sign up for the $12 a month plan (I rarely use my cell phone for anything) I only add $12 a month to my comcast bill? Something feels like it's missing.
I know there probably are other "fees" like all wireless providers have, if so what are they?
How much would I expect my bill to rise if I switched to this? right now my cell phone is a verizon perpaid phone that I pay like $100 a year just to have on for emergencies only. I need a new phone anyways so buying a new phone isn't a big deal.
Thanks!

[Firmware] New firmware for ARRIS X3 modems?
It looks like a new firmware manifest for the TG1682G and similar has been posted at..
http://rdklicensemanifest.stb.r53.xcal.tv/arrisxb3/2.5s2/
...with a catalog date of March26, 2017. Does this mean new Xfinity firmware will be deployed soon? If so, when can we expect it? Will this firmware fix the Puma6 chipset defect?
Thanks.

KC streetlevel map of ISP availability
This is a cool map of Kansas City (part of 'smart city' project) that shows ISP speeds at a block level. Can wave mouse over each block and shows max speeds available from ISPs (mainly Google Fiber, ATT, TWC/Spectrum, Comcast). Oddly it also shows realtime bus/streetcar positions but doesn't show the bus line #s yet.
Comcast is mostly available in E and SE burbs.

Questions from about bootfiles and speed tiers
Straight to the point. How is it that some customers are offered speed tiers in certain parts of the country, while others aren't. I ask because I see some members here with Extreme 250 and 300 while using SB6183s. I have a 6190 that bonds 16x4 and I am only offered Extreme 150/20.
However, it is my understanding that with Comcast's network, as long as there is a signal connected to the house, technically (whilst against ToS) a modem will work as long as it's connected to the network, even if you take it over a friend's house.
My question is, would a modem with an Extreme 250/300 bootfile loaded to it, work *full speed* in my area, if connected to an activated outlet. If so, why can someone with a 16x4 6183 in another state be allowed the speed, while my 6190 is limited to lower.

[Connectivity] Anyone have Comcast fiber to the house ? I have some questions..
I live in a community (2400 houses) that is about to sign a contract with Comcast to install fiber to the house.
What equipment is installed on the outside my house ?
Does the ONT require power, if so how do they get power to it ?
Any other equipment besides the gateway and STB's inside ?
Any pic's of the ONT would be great too :)
Thanks

[Speed] Comcast Speed Test Low Results?
Comcast speed test has always returned low latency values and high download speeds (ie 15 ms, 229 Mbps).
For the past week or so it's been 60 ms and 60 Mbps.
By comparison all other speed test sites including dsl reports speed test results are low ping and high download speed.
Are there issues with Comcast in Foxboro, MA?

[Equip] New Modem Question SB6190
Is this a Comcast or modem problem. I installed a new modem on 4/28, everything ran fine all weekend. I have 200 service and was getting about 240, I took a snapshot of the error log it's attached 4_30_17 (top)this ran for 2.5 days. I come home today do a speed test and now getting 130dl. I look at the errors log 5_1_17 (middle)and it's out of control then I look at the event log and it's got things going on 5_1_17 event (bottom). At the end of yesterday the event log was empty, any ideas why the loss of speed and all the errors. Thanks

[Signals] Massive packet loss, what do I say to get it fixed?
We've been having horribly intermittent network issues at my house for the past few months. After lots of turning things off and back on again, I found PingPlotter and let it run for a bit. I have the latest graph posted below.
It appears that the first hop from my house to their first node is a bit of a doozy.
What do I need to tell the techs on the phone to get beyond the "Have you tried turning it off and back on again" point? Am I misreading this things and need to look elsewhere?

Very reluctant to even try Comcast with all the negative posts
I am a current Century Link dsl user. I really would like better/faster service but after reading so many negative posts about Comcast I am not sure it is worth it. When I look closer at the fine print so many things are avoided for Comcast with their disclaimers that I have no idea what Comcast will provide and do. It is all so vague at times.
They say you can get X amount of MBPS but then they do not guarantee a darn thing in fine print! How is that possible? CL will guarantee me at least 80% of the Mbps at all times. I haven't a clue as to what or if Comcast will guarantee me.
Then they have caps on the data and well I have no idea how much I am using now with dsl so can't really translate that to a faster service. I have a 150MB cap I think with CL from long ago and at the time I was only using 50-80MB a month with 7Mbps but CL kept saying I was an extreme user and to up my plan. I was well below their cap. So it is hard to trust what any of them say.
There are early termination fees with Comcast but no way to calculate that, it is all very vague.
Also they have this disclaimer for early termination that those prices will/can change without notice. This change without notice is a common theme throughout their site. Hey I am buying a new fridge this week and I know what it will cost me but with Comcast I have no idea what it will cost me. I even know how much the electrical costs will run for the fridge for the year based on the Energy Saver program. So there are ways to narrow it down for that but not for early termination fees. They could still have a calculator available online without having to deal with sales people. You could put in your area code to allow for cost differences.
We talked to a neighbor who is not techie at all and they said they were taken aback on the price increase after the contract. So OMG you really have no idea how much Comcast will stick you after the contract expires. I really don't like how that works much like bait and switch. None of my other utilities operate this way. I pay a certain amount for water and electricity etc and they don't say hey in 12 months look out here come the real bill.
I know I have Xfinity on my street but have no idea if it is fiber and if I can I get fiber to my house. No way to tell online if I put my address in.
I have a 4k tv and will that eat up all my Mbps and I will easily go over my cap? I do think their plans set folks up for a huge reality check after their contract. No calculator to help consumers with figuring out what the real costs will be.
I have a small business at home and could use better uploads and there is zero mention of the uploads speeds on their site. They omit important stats. You don't get the full disclosure unless you call them and I guess this way the sales person can say anything and not be held to it? I prefer to have everything in writing so there are zero misunderstandings. But they don't operate so transparently and this gives me the heebie-jeebies.
The horror stories that customers are posting on Reddit and elsewhere are just awful!
The communication with the different departments sounds like a nightmare. Billing, customer service, tech support inside the house vs the contracted outside tech support to the house, they don't communicate well if at all. The tech support people do not sound very good either. So many will have many different techs out and maybe by the 7th person who comes out the issue might be diagnosed properly and fixed. So they can't hold onto the better people and maybe because they don't like the way the company operates? Holding onto good employees is the hallmark to providing good customer service. With Ting cell phone they will assign me a ticket and I talk to the same person until my issue has been resolved.
I have certainly had my issues over the last 12 yrs with CenturyLink. I am not sure I will be trading those for new worse ones with Comcast. I am not seeing the benefit but more obscurity and plenty of unknowns. How can any homeowner or business owner feel confident about entering into business with Comcast? Deal with the devil you know or deal with maybe a worse devil you don't know is how I am seeing this now.
Everyone seems to want to switch the accounts to ach billing which are really hard to stop compared to just bill payer method. I just like to have the control over when the money is taken from my account not let some company dictate this. It is overly pushy!
I wish Ting internet was available in my county. They are only in a handful of towns so far with fiber but they are offering 1000Mbps downloads and 1000Mbps uploads for all of 89.00 and I have used their cell phone service for over 2+ year and their customer support is EXCELLENT.
I know the laws now prohibit local municipalities from putting in their own fiber which really makes competition non existent for the most part from the looks of it, all except maybe 2 small ones around the country who took legal action on this and won. I hope this has set a precedent and others will challenge it and provide real competition.
The over promising and under delivering seems to be a constant theme with big telecom. Are customers just moving from one cable provider and when that contract expires they move back to the dsl and never have to endure the bad service providers for too long before trying the other? Maybe the next switch will go smoother? Maybe just not having a contract at all is the way to go so you can leave without any strings and early termination fees? Buy your own modem/router and never spend too much?
I have no way to knowing what speeds are on my street. I called and gave my address to Comcast guy but he says if I don't put your name in (and who know what else they data collect on you) in the computer, only then can he tell me what is speeds and types of equipment is available on my street. It seems like this should be easily available to see online with just putting in your address.
My daughter has new home with Xfinity fiber installed per the builder in that development. Her previous new townhouse rental she had was a nightmare with Comcast. She hates them but they have it in their new house now but the builder who builds a lot of homes in this state had their people manage it the installation and I am sure that made a huge difference. They are nice homes. I think builders can hold these companies more accountable if Comcast wants into new developments. For us older established homes, not in subdivisions, we don't have that expertise available and more prone to endless problems from the looks of it.
I have read where it is difficult to just cancel your Comcast service too. The billing department will use like sweat shop collection practices even if you had stopped the service. Many complained about this. Years ago I saw this video and someone was trying to cancel their cable service and they recorded the whole thing and the company just wouldn't let him cancel. I thought I would have never been so patient with the company, it was beyond ridiculous. I think that one went viral and that is why I ended up seeing it. From the negative comments it is not clear to me that Comcast is reasonable about cancellations and especially those whose house burnt down or in tornado or hurricane. They were not even reasonable.
For months after I got a new phone number I would get collection calls for someone else and they wouldn't stop calling. I explained we are not X but they just wanted a number to call to make their call quota and it was abusive to us. I had to change our phone number since there was no reasoning with them. The tactics were scary. I have read some similar type of tactics about Comcast billing with negative comments and really do not want to relive that nightmare again. There is no excuse to treat customers so poorly. I pay my bills on time but do not want to get involved with a company that bullies people.
Why so many complaints on Comcast for so many reasons? They are too big where their blanket policies are not effective and they create a corporate environment pitting their customers against the employees with their awful greedy policies.
I think there should be an insurance policy you can buy before entering into signing up for telecom where it will make things right in short order no matter what the telecom companies pulls. Are there companies you can sign up with business account who will set you up properly without having to interface with Comcast or Century Link or ____? They will know how to set the equipment up right to steer you to the best provider in your area for the best plan that will work best for what you need? Someone who can cut thru all the B.S. with all this? I certainly haven't been able to cut thru it with CenturyLink or Comcast so far.
Is the real possibility of a nightmare with Comcast worth trying Comcast? I am not sure at this point.

Is comcast responsible for wiring placement next to house?
Internet always has issues every few months. Tech came out to the house and first said we had "foreign voltage" issues. Ok? But then after replacing a corroded splitter that is outside the house the internet was back up and running full speed.
Thing is, the wire and splitter hang on the wall outside the house. Rain happens often here in florida. Isn't Comcast responsible for putting this in a box to secure it from climate issues? AT&T has the thing underground in our area now. Offering fiber for only $20 more than i pay for blast 150.
I'm tempted to switch. Comcast says we should be getting 2gigs here by the end of year (West palm beach)

[Speed] New Extreme 300 upgrade -- packet loss and low upload speeds
I'm not sure what I am really looking at here. I'm new to cable and just upgraded to Extreme 300 but I am seeing packet loss and low upload bandwidth and it doesn't seem to happen all of the time just more of an on off thing for the past week. I have already had a tech out and got a new modem, but I am not sure if this is a technical issue or just congestion on Comcast's end. I have another tech scheduled to come out and I am trying to learn as much as I can to make the most of his visit.
I do not know much about the signal levels but the tech said they were fine on the first vist: [att=1] [att=2]
I ran ping plotter for a bit when it was occuring around 12:30PM today: [att=4]
And here is a speed test: [att=3]
Does this look like a congestion issue or does it appear to be a line issue? Web browsing is okay when this is happening and download speeds are usually unaffected but also can be when the upload drops below 5Mb. Real time applications and gaming really suffer though. Uploads in progress can fail completely when this is happening as well.
Any suggestions on what I can try next with this?

[Signals] Green uplink light flashing
I use the Netgear C7000-100NAS. Both my down and uplink green light's never flash, but the green uplink indicator has begun to flash. I can however reset the modem but, after a day or 2 the green uplink indicator will start flashing again. Even with it flashing the unit has a great connection with Comcast. I get all my 250Mbit down and 25Mbit up speed's from Comcast. Are my uplink frequency signals from Comcast looking at where they should be??? Could there be a fault with the green uplink indicator???
