I currently have a rented XB6, have not called in to question yet, but recently my speed seemed to suffer and when I login and check the network status I see this. Any thoughts guys? [Equip] Giving current modem to relative?

What is the process of giving my son my current modem to use on his new acct? I am replacing mine with a different model I seem to have seen it posted here understanding of course the issue of seeing equipment already on another account. My son is finally getting his own Xfinity acct in the local area. Rather than paying the Gateway rental fee I figure it's better to provide his own modem/router. Rather than buying a new modem for himself I might as well give him my Netgear CM600 and go ahead and upgrade to a D3.1 modem. I also have a SB6190 sitting on the shelf collecting dust but figured he'd have better luck with my CM600. I need to wait for my new modem to get provisioned and then ensure the CM600 is deleted from my acct. But it will probably still show in the Comcast system.

Why did Comcrap throttle my 32/8 channel modem down to 16/4?

I don't know whether to put this as a rant or not. I purchased an Arris SB6190 modem a couple of weeks ago and at first it operated on 32/4 channels. It has 32/8 channel capability. Now, it is only using 16/4 channels. Granted my speed is fine at 70/5 Mbps, I am provisioned at 60/5 Mbps, I thought I would be able to use all my channels to avoid congestion because of a lot of people in my neighborhood stream Netflix. It seems that Comcrap does not think I am worthy of the hardware that I purchased. Any thoughts?

Intermittent Connectivity With SB8200 / Gigabit Service

Hello all, First post here. Within the last couple weeks my connection has been incredibly unstable, but prior to this I've had no problems with the same hardware. I've had a technician come out to my home, and check for cable noise, and he checked my modem (SB8200) as well. Before he left, he attached a 6DB attenuator, and if anything the issue somehow got worse. I've attached three photos to what my signal looks like with the attenuator, and one without. From what I derived from the Arris website, my upstream is far too low, and the attenuator should have helped. Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

VPN connections on CGM4140COM limited to 50 mb/s

I was originally on the sb6141 on the 150/10 plan. I got 180/10 through PIA at pretty much all times. Now the moment I upgraded to the CGM4140COM and the 1gb plan, I can only get 50 mb/s through the vpn. I tried putting it in bridge mode and that made no difference. I tried a direct connection on my surface book and with the router and it made no difference. Anyone else experience this? I am probably going to get the mb8600 soon because of this.

[Equip] Question for Technicolor TC4400 modem users

I have been able up until a few days ago to log into my Technicolor at 192.168.100.1. I was able to do so through my router which I bought some time ago and which uses dd-wrt (I've only used the comcast provided R8000 for troubleshooting). It has allowed me to get to the login page of the modem without having to make a direct PC to modem cable connection to check out the signal strength. The other day when I tried, I got a certificate error and made a temporary exception to bypass that (not that I think that is great) and did get to the login password prompt. I have used 3 different browsers and all act the same. I put the default info into the box and got an error. Note: I have been using the default login and password because it was not changeable on the modem as there were no buttons to click on the modem pages to make such a change. Evidently, something has been changed in the modem. While I know there is a possibility of being hacked (and I know that it would absolutely would have to be from the outside if that is the case), I believe that there may have been a firmware update that has caused this problem with both the certificate and the login issue. What I would like to know if there is anyone who has been able to log into the modem and if there is a problem now or if it still works. I would also like to know if anyone knows if the firmware has been modified in the last week or so. I do know that comcast knows that I can log into the modem because I had an issue and spoke with technical support and then had a tech come over who saw the screens when I showed him. This login problem started about 2 weeks after the tech came over. Any help would be appreciated.

[Connectivity] Amp ?

Hi, I get a lot of noise (I guess you would call it) on my 1 cable modem (SBG6580, I own) from Comcast, The cable internet has been out every morning except Monday & yesterday morning, Wednesday, since June 1st, 2018, My levels are good on the 192.168.0.1 Motorola/admin page. As attached to this posting. But should I be using a amp. w/my modem? I have 4 TV's on the same line. I have 3 splitters = 1. outside 8-way only using 4-coax sockets, 1. 4-way in the Attic (I am guessing at this, can't get up there, as I am afraid of heights) & 1. inside in back of the 1-TV. All other TV's are using only 2-splitters. Which amp should I be using? ... If you could give me a link on Amazon or another website. That would be excellent. I am a IT guy for my own business. I know/understand a lot about the technical stuff, computers! Love Computers! Any help would be excellent. Thank you, Michael MRGTec

Hi All Trying to setup brand new account at Apartment, anyways when I tried to setup the Two Factor Autenication--it said was already attached to Comcast account, well cancelled our old account well over 6 months ago, is the old account still active? Even says Phone number (mobile numbers) still attached to Old account

Literally, after I read a comment by uid://1807615 that from the drop should be a 2 way splitter with one leading directly to the modem and the other for anything else, I just want to make sure that my signal specs are alright. Attached are the Downstream information from my Comcast's XB6-T modem/router. I pay Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1.

I just order gigabit service. The install is set for next week. But I'm not getting why I need the install. I have rg-11 coming from the pole. Rg-q6 after that to everything. Modem is sb8200 and is on its line of the splitter. The only thing i can think is maybe there going to run a dedicated line to the modem. Basically in a nutshell i was just wondering what there going to do?

[NodePlus0] General Discussion of N+0 deployment activity

$

I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

[Business] Comcast Business pricing is uh, astounding

Helping my church out with connectivity, I gave Comcast Business a call. For the Gigabit service most of us pay $100 - $199/month for (depending upon location) the Comcast Business fee is $499/month. $69.95/month gets you a whopping 25 Mbps down. The original idea was going to be to drop DSL service from CenturyLink, replace the ancient SB6121 in the wiring closet and go with Comcast service for all our needs, but it turns out CenturyLink DSL is both faster and cheaper. Definitely nowhere near the case for residential. My apologies if this is naïve, but I'm still floored.

[Business] What is the "internet preferred" business tier?

I had a client complaining of slow internet speeds (25 mbps), it appears that is their limit. I checked the bill and it is $89.95 for "internet preferred", a tier I can't find listed on Comcast's website. Did they get grandfathered into an old tier with 'new' prices?

We updated our internet plan from the 250 to 400. The 250 had 20 upload speed but the 400 only has 10. What the heck is up with that?

Questions about cable modem replacement

$

I plan to replace a Comcast-provided cable modem (TG1682G) with an Arris SB6183. My current LAN setup has the Comcast cable modem in bridge mode feeding a router that feeds/controls my LAN (DHCP, etc). My questions are: 1. Can I just pull the current router and put in the new one, and then connect to Comcast's activation page from on of my computers on the LAN through my router, or do I need to first do this part of the replacement with a computer plugged directly into the new cable modem and then switch the connection over to my router after activation? 2. Will I, and/or Comcast, need to do anything special post-swap to account for the fact that my cable modem (with no internal router) is feeding a router? My concern here is that since Comcast had my current cable modem rigged in bridge mode that they might need to do something on their end to account for the new setup. I am aware that the new cable modem will provide neither wifi or telephony, but I use neither of those so it's no loss.

[Plan] Side Discussion on DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit service

Mod Note: This topic started as "XI Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 - data cap with 3-year agreement?" It has become a general discussion of this deployment, hence the title change. uid://455626 If you actually have had this service installed, the stickied report topic is here. > https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30960001-Speed-Report-DOCSIS-3-1-Gigabit-Service-Here If you report, please include info requested in the first post and keep that topic strictly on topic. Thanks, sortofageek The XI Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 is now available in my area. I am tempted to sign up. Early reports said unlimited data with a 3-year agreement. The Comcast website says nothing but the typical disclaimer about the data usage plan. I don't want to sign a 3-year agreement for a plan with a data cap. Does anyone know if the XI Gigabit service is subject to the data usage nonsense?
