Xfinity/Comcast SPAM-800-934-6489
Despite requests to discontinue the calls, Xfinity/Comcast continues to call me from 800-934-6489 telling me my modem is outdated and I may not be getting my full speeds. I told them I am getting the full speed and that should I wish to replace my modem I would purchase one myself. I still, however, continue to receive calls from this number after telling them to stop calling me. The number is now blocked on my phone. There are enough issues with spam calling and there is no reason why one should have to deal with Xfinity/Comcast spam calls. Posting this so others are aware of this issue.

[Connectivity] MoCa 2.0 Bonded Problems with Comcast Xfinity STB's
Hi Guys. I am having the same issues as the OP in this thread, but wasn't sure if I just revive that one or post a new one.
I am trying to install 2 Motorola MM1000 moca bridges in a home with an X1 DVR and extender box. Quick background on the structure; the house was built in the mid 2000s and has 2 floors. One of the boxes is connected at the site with the modem and router. The other is at a site with just a desktop. They are approximately a total of 40-45 ft apart. The bridges show as connected, but my speed varies between 130Mbps - 160Mbps when performing iPerf tests in my LAN. That’s using out-of-the-box settings at 1150MHz. As per the thread that I referred to earlier, I have tried changing the band settings to 1400MHz and I am able to get faster speeds on the LAN, but then that completely stomps on the X1 extender video. I have experimented with some other bands between those, but those seem to lock-up my bridges and requires performing a hard reset to the default settings. I have attached a physical topology of all the connected cable sites in the house that will hopefully help with troubleshooting and any suggestions you guys might have. One thing that I did see pop-up was checking to see what the X1 STBs were operating at, but was not sure how to access those menus. I am on the road until Friday, but can provide whatever info I can and can do some suggestions when I get back home Friday. Thanks.

[Connectivity] Serious Connectivity Issues [Comcast with Motorola 7315 Gateway]
I've been dealing with high ping and packet loss for a little while now and need some help. I'm in SoFlo.
I just tried removing the splitter and plugging the modem directly into the wall, but no improvement, and my power went up by 3. Comcast rewired the house and fixed the lines outside when I moved into this house a year ago.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

[NEWS] xFi Advantage now available in the Central Division
quote:xFi Advantage is a new program being offered in the Central Division.
It includes: XB6 Advanced Gateway
The XB6 advanced gateway.
Unlimited data usage plan.
Advanced Security -- a new security program that protects your home network.
Home WiFi assessments and support -- xFi Advantage customers will have their in-home WiFi performance assessed for fourteen days. If it is determined that the wifi performance is not optimal, customers may receive xFi pods.
Who is eligible?
xFi Advantage is available to all internet customers in the Central Division.
How much does it cost?
If you currently have speeds of 250 Mbps or above, the cost is $15/month. This is a significant saving over renting an XB6 ($13/month) plus unlimited data ($50/month). If you are eligible for the Xfi Pods ($119), it could mean additional savings.
If your current speed tier is less than 250 Mbps the cost is $55/month. It might be more economical to upgrade to a faster speed tier if you want to take advantage of xFi Advantage.

[Firmware] SB8200.0200.174F.311915.NSH.RT.NA Firmware - IPV6 Fails
My SB8200 was just updated to SB8200.0200.174F.311915.NSH.RT.NA and I have noticed that when IPv6 is enabled, traffic forwards for IPv4 and IPv6 for a few moments, then the CM stops forwarding all traffic. I have comcast engaged, due to some resolved outages in area...but as long as I run IPv4 only, traffic is passed.
What's concerning, as soon as IPv6 is enabled, and DHCP-PD (I receive a /60) goes live, all traffic on both stacks stops completely...requiring a power cycle of the modem to clear...and issue repeats itself. I've ruled out equipment on my side, and getting DOCSIS 3.1 channels... Just I no loner can run dual stack anymore...which I had been running for over a year now without issue..
Anyone having IPv6 issues like this? Using DHCP-PD ....
I'm beginning to believe is has something to do with the new firmware....ugh..
TIA

[Connectivity] Problems with PL at lag-8.ear1.Miami1.Level3.net
I'm on Comcast in South Florida, as well as a customer of mine. My customer uses Citrix to connect to an online tax service, and they are getting disconnected multiple times a day. So their tech support suggested running PingPlotter to record a repeated tracert to their server, from my customer.
I did the test too, and we both see high packet loss at the lag-8.ear1.Miami1.Level3.net hop. From my customer I saw nearly 100% packet loss, and from my system I see anywhere from 30-60%.
I tried calling LEVEL3 but they say the call needs to come from Comcast.. and I have very little faith in getting anywhere with their tech support. So I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions.
Thank you,
Kiran

[Caps] Courtesy months
So are courtesy months 2 per year or 2 for all time?
I ask because it seems I'm not having my 2nd, so I may need to pony up and get the unlimited add-on.
though I'm thinking I should get more of my movie collection backed up while I'm in the courtesy month. (IE my media server backs up to the cloud so my internet usage is mostly upload.)

[OUTAGE] Internet dropping out
Modem Netgear C7100v Router Netgear Orbi.
I have been having very slow connectivity on my Samsung Galaxy when its connected to my home network. It's almost as if its connected to Verizon's slower 3G network. It's not just the phone that's dropping out. I have two out of my three Nest Cams that are dropping out and resetting throughout the day according to the video history.
Usual drill the signals are within Comcast specs (Power +5 on most downstream, SNR is about 43 on most channels and Upstream tx is 44). I am however getting a lot of correctables and uncorrectables.

[Speed] Signed up for 1Gbps using SB6183, speed slow
Hi,
so I've just signed up for 1Gbps but plan to use the sb6183 until I get the one support at this speed but I am getting only around 50Mbps, is this normal? what is the max speed should I expecting using the SB6183? According to the vendor, it supports up to 686Mbps but I was just hoping around 500Mbps is sufficient for now until I get a replacement. TIA.

Newbie AP/WiFi Advice
Hello all!
I have Xfinity Internet only and I’m currently at 250 Mbps thinking of moving to 400 Mbps. I have no technical experience and I’m currently renting an Arris w/voice even though I don’t have Xfinity voice. I want to return the rental and purchase my own AP with WiFi. The advice I would like and will much appreciate is as follows:
1. Should I purchase separate components instead of an AP/WiFi all-in-one?
2. What brand(s) do you suggest?
3. Are the brand(s) you suggest approved by Comcast Xfinity?
P.S. I don’t mind spending a little extra for great connections. The current rental’s signal is very weak at the far end of my home. ( Single story 2600 square foot home ).
Oh, and I have someone that can help with installation and set up.
Thanks so much in advance!

[Other] Comcast store pets
Rejoice dog owners!! Comcast apparently is just fine with people bringing their NON SERVICE dogs inside their retail stores ... and unleashed dogs to boot.
That's what one of their advert has: customer's unleashed dog tugging at pants leg. And then the female customer asks "Do you SELL other dogs?" WTH ?
Posting here in hopes that MAYBE a Comcast honcho might see how this advert is over the top.
In the meantime, find an incontinent pet dog and visit a CC retail store. :D. :D

[Other] Orange Cable is showing in my yard - Not a customer though
I am not a comcast customer, however the orange cable for their service is surfacing in my yard. It is really exposed and I'm afraid that someone will accidentally cut it or get hurt.
I have tried calling my local Comcast Xfinity, but they won't talk to me unless I'm a customer (requiring account numbers and such). How do I get them to bury the line or should I have my neighbors call if they're a customer?

[Connectivity] Best Modem for Comcast -Xfinity with 250+ speed?
So like the title asks what is the best modem to be using now with a connection of at least 250+? So 500Mbps or up to 1Gbps?
Is the SB8200 still having a lot of issues?
I don't care who makes it, I just want a modem that is going to work.
Thanks for any input!

Anybody else find the Pre Comcast Tech Call annoying
Wish Comcast would end the practice or at least tone down the call.
The one you get asking you again to explain again and go through the same stuff you did to set up the appointment.
In my case I got the response my tv is broken. This was in response to signal and box was fine. Was not fine as somwhow phone tech wiped out tv picture as called in before was fine. India lady said you should see logo of tv brand on screen and no explanation as to how I got pixiated channel a couple of seconds.
So just be clear they dont cancel and cannot talk lol . Think the real purpose is to see if the can get you to cancel appointment my 2 cents.
End of story all is well box change and the setting not sure whch 1021 0r 721 caused blanks screen.
