[Connectivity] MoCa 2.0 Bonded Problems with Comcast Xfinity STB's
Hi Guys. I am having the same issues as the OP in this thread, but wasn't sure if I just revive that one or post a new one.
I am trying to install 2 Motorola MM1000 moca bridges in a home with an X1 DVR and extender box. Quick background on the structure; the house was built in the mid 2000s and has 2 floors. One of the boxes is connected at the site with the modem and router. The other is at a site with just a desktop. They are approximately a total of 40-45 ft apart. The bridges show as connected, but my speed varies between 130Mbps - 160Mbps when performing iPerf tests in my LAN. That’s using out-of-the-box settings at 1150MHz. As per the thread that I referred to earlier, I have tried changing the band settings to 1400MHz and I am able to get faster speeds on the LAN, but then that completely stomps on the X1 extender video. I have experimented with some other bands between those, but those seem to lock-up my bridges and requires performing a hard reset to the default settings. I have attached a physical topology of all the connected cable sites in the house that will hopefully help with troubleshooting and any suggestions you guys might have. One thing that I did see pop-up was checking to see what the X1 STBs were operating at, but was not sure how to access those menus. I am on the road until Friday, but can provide whatever info I can and can do some suggestions when I get back home Friday. Thanks.

Comcast Telephone vs Other VOIP
I like to get some input on installation and reliability for Comcast voice vs other voip providers such as MajicJack. This is for an older person who is not really tech savvy, but I would be on the premises for setup and deal with any problems after.
Current service is Verizon copper with Comcast TV. The copper lines are old with patch job maintenance, so there are continual problems . The VZ telephone is just not reliable anymore and I hoping the voip phone will be better. The plan would be to get trip play or double play with a voip provider. Would also need the modem choice to allow additional 2 additional voice lines with a separate VOIP provider in the near future.

Signal Levels?
Hey folks!
Having issues with my Xfinity internet randomly disconnecting. Can someone look at these signal levels and tell me what you think?
Been having issues using 2 different modems, so I am thinking it's an issues outside the house.

[Connectivity] Huge Variances Gigabit Speed Test Results
Thanks for the help on the MocA thread. I upgraded our home to Gigabit internet recently and have been performing tests regularly with wildly varied results. I performed a few test downloads and noticed no appreciable difference in speed from my previous 250mb tier. All tests were performed on a Windows 10 box with a gigabit NIC directly wired to the modem. The results always showed fastest on Xfinity's servers typically around 940mb, but from OOKLA, I never got hire than 300mb. DSLReports also showed 940mb, with others around 250-200mb mark. Not sure who to believe, but it seems that most with gigabit service from Xfinity were getting much smaller variances between speed tests and different sites. I have posted a few screenshots with tests results, as well the diagnostics of my Netgear CM1000 modem. A visit is scheduled for tomorrow, but I will probably have to cancel and will be unavailable for a visit for a few weeks (Work, vacation, life, etc.). I have spoken to CS a couple times and they assure that my account is correctly provisioned. I have also spoken to advanced technical support and they state that my signal shows within tolerances. As you an imagine, this is somewhat frustrating so any help would be appreciated.

[Other] gonetspeed fiber competing with comcast
Some workers in a bucket truck were pulling wire in front of my house and told me they're installing fiber in the neighborhood for gonetspeed, which would be a new isp for my area's market. I looked them up and it seems they're offering three speed tiers of 100, 500, and 1000 all with symmetrical speeds. The 100/100 plan is $50 and therefore faster and cheaper than what I have currently with comcast.
I'm pretty happy with the quality and reliability of comcast internet but glad there's some competition for my business.

[Equip] Upgrade to Netgear CM1100 worth it?
I was at Costco today and I saw the new Netgear CM1100 and I noticed 2 ethernet ports. I have the gigabit upgrade with my double play. Is the modem worth the upgrade or should I stick with my CM1000. My router is the Netgear Orbi.

[Bill] New Customer Pricing Info
Hey everyone, it's been awhile! For those who know I used to be a bit more active. Anyway...
My bill did its yearly increase and was wondering if just cancelling and reordering service is still a viable option in 2019? Comcast is the only provider in my neighborhood so I don't have anyone else to go to.
I already called retention and inquired about renewing my promotional rate and was told that the only thing available was to switch to a Triple Play bundle which would save a measly $10 off my current bill of $200.
So the way I see it is call and cancel and then sign up the next day. I've been a customer now for over a year so I should be eligible as a new customer once my disconnect goes through.
Thoughts?

What is the downside to 10mbs upload
I am going to switch from frontier 150/150 to comcast 150/10.
Most of what we do now is downloading, lot of streaming classes, streaming meetings, netflix, hulu, and at least two kids gaming at once.
I am wondering what problems I will experience by dropping that far in upload.

[Equip] Huh? Internet on eMTA-prov. device?
So I was messing around with my equipment and reorganizing after I was advised to tidy those wires I had on my post regarding old X1 equipment from Comcast. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32262952-Comcast-Equip-Why-do-I-still-get-old-equipment
Today, I plugged in an Ethernet cable from my eMTA TM822R to my laptop and for some reason, I got internet with speeds on this 8x4 D3.0 device ranging to 282Mbps. down.
Coincidence maybe? Right now, I have a CM1000 modem with 1Gbps/35Mbps service.

[Speed] Xfinity prepaid speed
What are the chances of Comcast increasing prepaid internet speed I use it when I'm in my uncle's house which is about six months out of the year. It's getting to a point where my phone is faster than this with 5G around the corner I may just end up going to it and just using my phone instead of Comcast. I'm using it as a part-time internet connection because I don't live here.

SB6183 and speed
I have an SB6183 Motorola/Arris cable modem. I recently downgraded my service from a triple play (w/ 250Mbps speed) to internet only (w/ 60 Mbps speed). This happened about 2 weeks ago.
The account took a long time to clear, with bits of the old info hanging around for awhile. It showed I still had my X1 cable box for over a week. It showed I still had my previous Comcast gateway for several days. The estimated bill in My Account showed the correct price for 60 Mbps, but also showed fees for regional sports and TV broadcast, and other TV-related fees.
At this point, all of those anomalies are now gone, but I never lost my original 250Mbps internet speed. The modem has been reset multiple times over the two weeks. My monthly bill just arrived, and it shows "Performance Plus" (60 Mpbs) as it should - and no incorrect fees.
I don't object to getting 4 times my requested speed, but I am wondering if this is common? Maybe the current SB6183 firmware (D30CM-OSPREY-2.4.0.0-GA-03-NOSH) has a bug that doesn't allow it to accept provisioning changes? Maybe Comcast is just messed up? Who knows.

small burst of errors
not a big deal but i figured i would ask.first of all no issues at all and not a single message in the event logs.i hardly ever get any uncorrectables at all but this happened before maybe a month ago and again around 2 months ago only on that 507hz channel it happens on a 1 burst event always.here is a screenshot of 4 days 3hrs uptime and this happened in 1 burst at around 3days uptime.probably no concern to be worried?and why would it be only on that 1 channel?

[Copyright] copyright infringement prevention
Hello,
I got a DMCA notice the other night. The person I suspect has denied downloading.
Questions:
1. If I get in touch with Comcast for details, would they be able to tell me Mac Address of the machine in our household responsible for the download? If I were able to provide proof to him that he's responsible, it will weaken his denial.
2. Might I be able to stop his ability to pirate files by limiting his access to certain types of files via my router in some way? I have Linksys E2000.
Any other suggestions would be hugely helpful!
Thanks,
Paul

[NEWS] Internet-Only users: Are you getting free TV?
Just wondering because the other day I found out I was receiving channels in the Standard Double Play tier without being subscribed to the service. I use Xfinity Stream
I'm assuming if this change was made in error, that it'll be corrected in a system audit, but I just wanted to check here to see if it's just Xfinity throwing freebies.

intermittent slow uploads
Hi all,
i posted about this awhile ago, here's the link: https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Your-Home-Network/Re-Intermittent-Download-Speed-extremely-slow-upload-speed/m-p/3181328/highlight/false#M295565
had a tech come out, cleaned up some cable, removed an older splitter. problem persists. i'll notice my upload speed going down, meaning lag while gaming. my bufferbloat speeds go from a's to f's and ping is 100's to 1000's of milliseconds on upload.
only rebooting the modem (cm600) fixes it. i sometimes get ranging errors in the logs, but not all the time. i also accummulate correctable and uncorrectable errors on download, but there's no accounting on the upload channels.
i've had the cm600 for 2 years. do i just need to keep calling xfinity and reporting it each and every time my download speeds drop and have to reboot my modem?
i've searched and not seen anyone on this forum reporting anything similar. however on xfinity's help site i liked above, there's lots of such posts.
here's pre reboot speed test: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/47541093

[Other] Comcast store pets
Rejoice dog owners!! Comcast apparently is just fine with people bringing their NON SERVICE dogs inside their retail stores ... and unleashed dogs to boot.
That's what one of their advert has: customer's unleashed dog tugging at pants leg. And then the female customer asks "Do you SELL other dogs?" WTH ?
Posting here in hopes that MAYBE a Comcast honcho might see how this advert is over the top.
In the meantime, find an incontinent pet dog and visit a CC retail store. :D. :D

[Firmware] MB8600 firmware updated
After the other Firmware update topic I decided to reboot my MB8600 just now. Upon reboot it went into the 2nd reboot cycle. Sure enough the firmware updated from 8600-6.1.1.19 to 8600.18.2.12. The Cable Modem certificate number changed as well.
Also noting some other/new info/messages. My Event Log now shows something I had never seen before.
DS profile assignment change. DS Chan ID: 32; Previous Profile: ; New Profile: 1.
REG-RSP-MP Mismatch Between Calculated Value for P1.6hi Compared to CCAP Provided Value
Also on my OFDM channel, which has never shown any errors for me, now is showing a ton of "Corrected" errors while the SNR is only showing 16.1 dB.
