So checking status center on the xfinity website, it's saying 'An Xfinity Channels Outage has been reported in your area'. My area and address have been red on the outage map since yesterday with the message on the map saying: 'You may be experiencing a service issue. Your service should be restored soon. We apologize for any inconvenience'
Usually the outage type is listed with an estimated repair time, but this cryptic 'channels outage' has been going on and off for days. I've called Comcast and the phone support doesn't know what a channels outage means? And that they're not seeing any outages.
My X1 TV service seems OK although I've noticed the X1 guide has been acting up a bit with 'one moment please' messages a few times a day. Could the 'channels outage' relate to this? Does it have nothing to do with my internet service?
Anybody know what this type of outage is reporting?

Comcast FTTH install(ing)...
The HOAs for all of the individual developments within my gated community near Naples FL signed a multi-year contract with Comcast last year for a standard package of services to each home... Digital Preferred TV, 150 MBPS internet (with migration to GB), 3 included set top boxes and discounted (optional) phone service. As part of the deal, Comcast is replacing the entire coax plant with FTTH. They've been busy running the main fiber feeds underground into the neighborhoods, and even the fiber drops into individual homes (I've got a dark fiber drop now into my laundry room). Word is that they'll start conversion of individual homes to fiber in the next couple of months. I loved my Verizon FIOS up in NJ... I hope Comcast doesn't find a way to mess this up! ;)

Changing Internet on Contract to another with no contract?
I noticed i can downgrade or upgrade my internet online to one without a 12 month contract how does that work? Will my current contract be gone since the plan was changed to another plan with no contract?

[Firmware] 8600-18.2.12 firmware update.
Since the firmware update things have been happening I haven't seen before.
There was rarely anything in the Event log, now it's 20 to 30 a day of RNG-RSP CCAP power in access of 6dB below the value of corresponding to the top.
My upstream power levels have jumped from the lower 40s to low and mid 50s.
My downstream levels have stayed pretty much the same except the OFDM PLC channel 32 now shows 15.4.
Everything seems to be working OK, but just curious.

[Speed] 400 down
Contract was up so called to see what kind of a deal I could get.
Got my price dropped and in the package was a speed upgrade to 400 down, actually getting about 480.
I thought the 400 down included 20 up, but only getting 10.
Is that a regional thing or is that what everyone gets?

[OUTAGE] Our line was cut on purpose?
Noticed I wasn't receiving push notifications from my home devices throughout the day while I was at work. (5/10/19).
Wife came home to find nothing was connecting to the internet. She called me, I remote in and I wasn't able to address the issue, meaning its a physical issue outside the house.
So I thought... Maybe the guys we hire to mow fudged something up..
Well I did find the grounding wire disconnected where the coax cable goes into the house.. But that wouldn't cause the issue we're having.
Last resort.. I'll go check the pedestal.
THERE IT IS
Two fresh lines running to our neighbors while ours sits there cut cleanly outside the pedestal.
I've attached pictures of my findings. I'm no newb when it comes to this sort of situation. I spent years learning Centurylink's backbone after dealing with them years ago. Hope I dont have to do the same with Comcast.
Between all this, called Comcast 'tech support' and they scheduled a tech to come out two days later. (5/12/19)
I got no where with trying to get this escalated. What a ridiculous way to start my wife's 1st mother's days weekend. This should of been prioritized this morning. (5/11/19)

...is what I've been getting for a while now, according to speed tests. I dunno how it happened. I was originally on a "Performance Pro" double play package, I think -- it was 100/6, anyway -- and I upgraded to Gigabit for $30 more, and I was getting 1000/35 for some months. My contract ended, and I'm paying even more. But I'm not sure when the speed changed. It's like I've got the (upgraded) DL speed from Performance Pro, but the UL speed from Gigabit.
And I think to myself, "Hey, at least it's more symmetrical than 1000/35. I know this is the best UL I can get out of Comcast (short of Gigabit Pro); do I even want to mess with trying to get them to fix the DL?" Hmm.

Outage then surprise!
Hi,
Woke up this am to an outage. If you’ve seen my other posts you’ve seen I’ve had intermittent issues with slow upload/ latency that rebooting fixes.
When my link came back up rebooting now doesn’t solve slow uploads/ latency. And looking at my signal levels I see a gap in upload channel id’s, along with unbalanced levels.
I’m also starting to accumulate uncorrectable errors.
I’m running a CM600 modem. Here’s a snapshot.
Does his look normal, channels ids going to 32 when my modem only o supports 24? Comments on levels?
My upload latency is varying between 0.2 and 2 seconds, yes seconds!

[WiFi] What are speeds usually like on the public XFINITYWIFI hotspots?
I just got Xfinity (gigabit download, ~35Mbps upload) and realized that now I can use those Xfinity wifi hotspots I see everywhere. What are the speeds on those usually like? I know it depends by area but idk if there’s a general logic to what you can expect for speeds (like whether it’s always a max of 100Mbps or if it’s the max available speed).

[Speed] Should I upgrade my 100 down connection?
I would like more speed, but I want some info on if I should give Xfinity more money.
Here is what I do on the internet. All I normally do is occasionally game over Xbox Live and PC, watch 1080p Netflix and other streaming services along with some Spotify. I also shop online and use social media sites. Occasionally I will download a few games on Steam or Xbox Live. I also use one Nest thermostat.
I can typically in an example get Fallout 4 fully downloaded in about 2 hours or so.
I dont experience any long term buffering of video either. Even if I have Steam pegged out downloading a game. No buffering. I can get 1080p video fully buffered in about 30 to 15 seconds with 100 down.
So here begs to question, do I really need more speed or would it be a waste of money?

Has the Infinity XB6 Gateway Firmware been upgraded so Link Aggregation is active. If so, how could you tell? Try using the second port? If so. could both ports be used at the same time?

Regional Sports and Broadcast TV fees on internet only service?
I searched, but no recent posts about this.
For those who have internet only service, are you still getting billed for Regional Sports and Broadcast TV fees?
They are still showing under the Additional Services, together with the Blast! Pro upgrade fee.
I just cancelled my cable tv sub, and just kept internet and mobile phone subs.

Is the login system for hotspots down?
I am in Greensburg, PA. I am an xfinity customer and should have access to hotspots.
I cannot connect to any hotspots. xfinitywifi, cablewifi, and optimumwifi all tell me "additional login information may be required. click here to open your web browser". When I click on the notification bubble to open my browser, nothing happens. When I manually enter the wifilogin.xfinity.com address, I seem to connect but no page content loads. It's just white.
I tried talking to a CSR and all she told me (after I explained the problem) was, "Yes. You have access to millions of hotspots nationwide."
I have been connecting to these hotspots for the past year or so almost on a daily basis.
edit: Wifi.xfinity.com loads but there is no place to login.
edit2: I can access any site when using PIA even though wifilogin.xfinity.com still doesn't load completely.

[Business] Does Comcast business allow use of 2 routers?
I've had Comcast residential for years and there isn't much choice where I live. Because of volunteer work I do, my entire network is connect to a Juniper router which connects to Comcast's Modem Gateway (which is in bridge mode so that the Juniper gives out the IP addresses). The Juniper is managed by the volunteer organization and I don't have and cannot obtain any access to it's configuration. I have a Wi-Fi controller and repeaters which have had erratic connection problems and my IT guy says he can't troubleshoot anything with it behind the Juniper. He says it would be best to be able to connect my home network directly without going through the Juniper (which is still needed because it controls the VOIP phones for this volunteer organization). I was told that this could work with a Comcast business account and I would consider switching to that if I could have my home network separated from the Juniper that way (either with a separate router or using the router part of the Comcast gateway). Can this work? Or is there a better solution? Thanks.
