I had some scheduled maintenance a few days ago. Was supposed to be in the early AM. The afternoon prior my modem locked up and I had to reboot. Could not reboot it though the Xfinity App on smart phone. Connection is fine however I just noticed an odd pattern being logged in the Event Log. Beginning at just after 2:00 pm on the 24th this was logged...... CM-STATUS message sent. Event Type Code: 16; Chan ID: 159; DSID: N/A; MAC Addr: N/A; OFDM/OFDMA Profile ID: 1 Followed shortly by: CM-STATUS message sent. Event Type Code: 24; Chan ID: 159; DSID: N/A; MAC Addr: N/A; OFDM/OFDMA Profile ID: 1 Same 2 messages logged again after 5:00 pm. All within a very short time Apr 25th the same 2 messages were logged just after 11:00 pm Followed again today, the 26th at around 3:30 pm Gonna keep monitoring at this point. I will do a modem reset probably after a few days if this continues.

I noticed this today in my modem log: "DS profile assignment change. DS Chan ID: 32; Previous Profile: ; New Profile: 1..." When I looked at the modem Product Information page it now shows: "Software Version SB8200.0200.174F.311915.NSH.RT.NA" It was "D31CM-PEREGRINE-1.0.1.0-GA-04-NOSH" There is now an "Advanced Configuration" page. http://192.168.100.1/lagcfg.html "Link Aggregation Configuration NOTE: Ethernet Link Aggregation applies to various methods of combining (aggregating) multiple network connections in parallel in order to increase throughput beyond what a single connection could sustain, and to provide redundancy in case one of the links should fail."

[CustSvc] Comcast Direct Post with Email/Call Back?

$

Anyone ever posted in Direct and get an answer and then receive Feedback from Xfinity about the contact? Several days ago I received an Email from Xfinity asking for Feedback about a recent call. Odd thing is I never made any calls to them. I thought that odd but assumed it was just a mix up. Then I got a call from Xfinity asking about my contact and if I was satisfied with the service. I answered that call and decided to answer their query. Then I remembered I had posted in Direct and eventually got a resolution to the issue I was seeing. The dates don't quite match but was close enough. So that has me wondering if that might perhaps be the contact they were talking about.

[Caps] Data usage per month - how much do you use?

Hi Comcast folks. Over in the Optimum area we are discussing data usage, since we are unlimited. I know some of you are, some of you are not. Just curious what everyone here uses per month. For me, I have an average 20 to 25 devices connected at a time to the network, quite a bit more when family or friends come over. We use Google Wifi (3 pucks) for our router. We use anything from TV's (roku's) to xbox one to steam pc to nest cameras. No cable, streaming only, and we use about 2 to 2.5TB per month (1TB or so down, 1 to 1.5TB up) due to the nest cameras and working from home. Comcast just published a new local rate sheet on April 1st. Same prices as before for Internet-only service, but they're showing a new tier: Performance Select. Anyone know what the speeds are? I know Performance Plus here is 60/5 and I believe Performance Pro is 150/5. [att=1]

As mentioned in this recent DSLR news item https://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Comcast-Prepares-For-Mid2017-Wireless-Service-Launch-139048 , Comcast is planning a mid-year launch of their wireless service. Comcast announced today that they will be providing the details on this new service on Thursday: Comcast to Host Analyst Event to Discuss Launch of Mobile Initiative Comcast press release, Business Wire - April 3, 2017 http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20170403005198/en/Comcast-Host-Analyst-Event-Discuss-Launch-Mobilequote:On Thursday, April 6, 2017, Comcast will host an analyst event to discuss the details of its previously announced mobile initiative, which utilizes an existing MVNO agreement. Senior members of the Comcast leadership team will participate in the event. ...There is also this FierceCable article today about it: Comcast sets Thursday meeting with investors to discuss wireless launch By Daniel Frankel, FierceCable - April 3, 2017 http://www.fiercecable.com/cable/comcast-sets-thursday-meeting-investors-to-discuss-wireless-launchquote:Some of the telecom industry’s most closely guarded secrets could finally be revealed Thursday, when Comcast hosts what it calls an “analyst event to discuss the details of its previously announced mobile initiative.” : Comcast confirmed plans to launch a wireless service combining the strengths of its vast Wi-Fi network and its MVNO deal with Verizon back in September. The launch has been slated for sometime later this year. : Last week, FierceWireless reported that Comcast is quietly partnering with Apple as it prepares to launch wireless service under the brand Xfinity Mobile: http://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/comcast-quietly-taps-iphone-ahead-launch-xfinity-mobile The cable giant’s name has been added to behind-the-scenes - but publicly available - code that lists carrier bundles for the iPhone. The list of carrier bundles is used by iTunes and iPhones to determine whether the iPhone’s SIM is supported by a service provider with whom Apple has an agreement, then provisions the phone accordingly. The iPhone's latest list of carrier bundles includes "Verizon_Comcast_LTE_US," and mentions the service "Xfinity Mobile." A source pointed out the reference to FierceWireless, and a different source with knowledge of the matter confirmed that Comcast has indeed partnered with Apple ahead of the launch of Xfinity Mobile. [DOCSIS] Bringing a TC8717 to Comcast?

$

Hello, I am currently with Mediacom, and they randomly one day sent us a different cable modem (I think it was a Hitron?) for faster connection (DOCSIS 3.0?) Thing is though, they had just before sent us a Technicolor TC8717 that was also DOCSIS 3.0. In the materials with this new modem they had said not to return the old one to them. So this is where Comcast comes in: I still have that TC8717, and am now moving to a place that has Comcast. Could I activate that TC8717 with a new install there? I have access to its admin panel and have performed a full reset, so there's no Mediacom clearaccess stuff on it anymore. Also I do believe that Comcast uses TC8717s on their own lease devices. However, the TC8717 isn't listed in the compatible modem list for Comcast. Is there some sort of number I have to give Comcast to activate it that will make them prevent a "non-supported" modem from connecting? Or could I just "give it a shot" when I move in? Hopefully this all makes sense and isn't a super dumb question. Thanks.

1 Gig service now availble for apartments ?

I was looking at my bill and it said my deal was almost up and said to lock in a new one. I looked at what was available and see "X1 Premier Pro Triple Play with Netflix" and mentions download speeds up to 1,000 Mbps Did something recently change, as I thought only houses or multi Dwelling units that had special equipment installed could only get 1 Gig? Is this something where they would need to come out and install, or is it "Flip a switch" and get a modem that can support the speed I assume this comes with 35 Mbps or is this the exception, where it's still 10 Mbps? (There was no mention about upload Thanks

[Speed] Upstream downgrade with 400 Mbps internet

$

I had 300/30, I'd get up to 35Mbps up on a speed test. I had recently read that Comcast stopped mentioning upstream speeds and I definitely noticed that I couldn't find the upstream speed mentioned on their page. After upgrading to the 400 Mbps internet, I noticed that my upstream has been downgraded to around 20 Mbps. Same modem, no issues with this SB6190 (seriously). Since we're now pretending that upstream speeds don't exist, does that mean it no longer counts towards our usage cap? I considered 1 Gbps internet, but I've read that it has only a 35Mbps upstream and if you're downloading at full speed then the ack packets consume the entire upstream, that's hilarious. Wouldn't that essentially cripple your network unless you have some kind of QoS enabled on the switch or router? (Not a networking guy.) I live in the city limits and AT&T can't do more than 18 Mbps (it probably wouldn't even achieve that) to my house because they only put their gigabit in new neighborhoods. This is why I put up with this. Politicians that say we have options demonstrate their lack of knowledge on the subject. I was surprised at how promptly my modem was reconfigured after I purchased the new plan, I even powered it off briefly and re-checked the speeds, but I'm disappointed in the upstream downgrade.

[Rant] I wonder when the rest of us on Comcast will get gigabit?

$

I live in SW VA, tri-cities area. I wonder if we will ever see gigabit. Seeing as Comcast has already declared themselves the winner and done with gigabit, I guess my area doesn't count. At least 3 providers in the general area have gig, but they are limited to certain areas, mostly ftth. No one at Comcast has any idea when it may happen, nor do they seem to even care about my part of their service area. Based on my modem logs and my checking, it looks like we got 3.1 back in Dec 2018, probably around the 5th. But yet we are still limited to 150/20 service. I had the 300/25 until a rep screwed my account up and I lost it, couldn't get it back as it was a grandfathered plan apparently. I used to be the biggest fan of Comcast, I just wish they actually cared about all of their customers.

Bought House, Major Problems with Comcast

$

My wife and I bought our dream house up in the mountains, which surprisingly was advertised as having Comcast. In fact, the whole neighborhood was wired for it - perfect! We moved in and over a few weeks learned that the 800 foot drop from the street to the house had been damaged some time between when the previous owner moved out (April) and when we moved in (November). The Comcast tech told me the line appeared to have been cut under our neighbor's new driveway. We have an easement over his property, so the drop was crossing it. Eventually Comcast got me in touch with their local installation supervisor who told me that they view me as a new customer because I personally did not have service at the address, so they would have to charge me to get connected. He claimed that the old drop could not be repaired or replaced, and that Comcast has no record of this address ever having service. I know that to be a lie because I'm friendly with the former owner and she has years worth of bills, and the Comcast rep admits that there must have been service here because their equipment is in the ground connected to the house. The rep also told me that he had no idea how or why the drop, as it currently exists, got approved, because it doesn't follow their internal guidelines, and he could not approve a new line in the same location. He didn't offer any explanation except that someone must have pulled some strings or knew someone high up. The previous owner told me an interesting story about her experience moving to this address back in 2011. They bought the house knowing that it didn't have internet, but they had placed a contingency in their contract based on Comcast stating they'd be able to service them. When they moved in, Comcast suddenly told them it'd cost $15,000 to get set up, a huge cost that was never mentioned to them in their previous discussion. So they had a broker go talk with Comcast and somehow the issue got escalated to a point where Comcast agreed to pay for the installation. Over the course of 3 months, during which I've been using 4g internet getting amazing speeds of around 20kb/s, Comcast managed to get a contractor out here to draw up a plan. It's apparently a complicated installation because our house is at the end of an 800 foot driveway on a very steep hill. Directional boring is required to get the conduit where it needs to be. When the contractors were here, face to face, they told me it would cost around $75,000. We contacted a lawyer, who said our best bet was to go after the pavers, but if the price went much lower than 75,000 then it wouldn't be worth the legal fees. The official quote came through a couple weeks later at $20,400, so the lawyers are out. The price breakdown is $15k for drilling, $5k for labor and materials. Does Comcast have any obligation to maintain their equipment on the property or are we totally screwed? I get the feeling they're lying about the address not having service because they already ate a $15,000 expense here and don't want to pay for another, but when I mentioned their sketchiness to my lawyer his face paled and he suggested that no lawyer is going to want to go after them. Do we have any other avenues to try and get this fixed? Could it really be possible that they can't just use the existing conduit that was installed in 2012? We are so desperate that we've gone back and forth on just paying the $20k several times, please help! Edit for additional info: I remembered that the original owner also told me that the existing line was damaged by landscapers last year. They reported the damage and Comcast repaired it the same day. Why could they repair it back then but not now?

[Speed] Side Discussion About Gigabit Pro & earlier Gigabit Deployments

Anyone know if Comcast has actually started installs? I live in the west palm beach, fl market announced for deployment this month. So far phone agents don't know anything of the service. I've been told by different agents, 2016, June and it'll be in the system tomorrow. None had even heard of the service before I inquired and they did a bit of research, so I went to out local sales office to inquire in person. There I had to show them the press release, to which they simply said its not yet available in the market. Seems like this was a pure fiber to the press release hail marry announcement to try to salvage the dead merger. [Speed] Speedtest server question here in Albuquerque

$

I have Xfinity at 250Mbps down, and 12Mbps up. I live in Albuquerque, yet when I test against the Comcast speedtest server in Albuquerque, I get horrendous download speeds (usually 70Mbps down.) I've found that when I test against many servers just north up in Denver, I get my full bandwidth, easily reaching the 250Mbps down mark. Why on earth wouldn't I get the best results in a speedtest server in the same city and run by my ISP?
