Looking to beef up my home network security. Those of you that have purchased a stand-alone hardware firewall on your xfinity home network what product did you buy and why? How difficult was it to develop the routing rules?

[Speed] Comcast Upload Update?
Alright, so I remember that roughly one year ago, Comcast stated that increased upload speeds were coming in "2017." (https://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Comcast-Promises-Faster-Upstream-Speeds-Next-Year-137992)
I personally don't care if this increase comes in the form of DOCSIS 3.1, Full Duplex DOCSIS 3.1 (which is still undergoing spec to my knowledge - so I expect this is not the most immediate solution), mid, or high split.
Has anyone seen updates on these phantom upload speed increases?

I know the year is not over yet, and it's not like Comcast actually follows through with their time schedules, but it seems like a lot of "upload-to-the-press" to me. Just seeing if anyone has heard something new that I haven't.

[Equip] XB7 Technicolor CGM4331COM/Arris TG4482 - Wireless AX(Wi-Fi 6)
Looks like a new xfinity gateway passed through testing. No idea if it's going to be called the XB6 still, probably XB7 or something. Model number seems to be CGM4331COM. The test report mentions that it has 802.11ax. Looks like this unit may only have 4 antennas(4x4 AX on both bands). The current XB6 are a 2x2 N 2.4 GHz + 8x8 AC 5 GHz design(I believe it has a total of 12 antennas as a result).
See -
https://fcc.io/G95/4331X
Submitted shortly before it, are two other Technicolor devices called the XHR1-TC and the XHU1-TC. The XHU1-TC might be something like the current XB6 power supply, but upgraded? Its description is listed as "LTE power supply." The XHR1-TC is listed as a Zigbee repeater.
No idea if this will have a fan, but the label does say 12V/4.6A, so 55.2 watts, so I guess it will. The original Technicolor XB6(CGM4140COM) had a 60 watt power supply.
Edit: Changed title to reflect XB7
Edit2: Title updated again to mention Arris version if it arrives.

Any way to turn WiFi off XB7 to stop channel overlap?
I'm setting up a new AP using 180 MHz bandwidth over 802.11 AX.
However, I can't get the XB7 out of that range. It's holding an to overlapping 80 MHz channel settings. Disabling WiFi doesn't seem to stop the radio. I thought if I forced the control channel to be the same on the AP that it would move after a WiFi reset, but it won't budge. I had originally wanted to use two separate 5G SSIDs.
Should it be okay to keep this setup with the overlap? It doesn't appear to be impacting anything. Only other options seem to be wrapping it in aluminum foil or buying a new modem.

QFDM PLC and the rest is QAM256
I just upgraded to a D3.1 modem and I just noticed QFDM PLC for Modulation and the rest is QFDM.
Should I be concerned or should i call comcast?

Cannot get more than 700Mbps
Was always able to get 940Mbps on the Xfinity and Ookla Speedtest sites, with my gigabit connection using a T25 and my Asus router.
My connection now caps out at 600-700 Mbps using the same wired and wifi 6 client that I’ve used for months.
Anyone seeing the same? Is this connection throttling?

Business Internet at Home plus Cable TV possible?
Hello.
Does anyone know if you can bundle Comcast(Xfinity) Business Internet bundle with residential TV service?
In the past, comcast has required a commercially zone location for business internet however perhaps due to the coronavirus and people working from home, teleconferencing, etc... It seem they are allowing Business Internet as home now.
However my problem is that normally I bundle TV and Internet together to make them cheaper.
Normally if you get one without the other, its like 80% of the cost of having the both.
Wondering if maybe someone here has this business internet at home with TV and can let me know how this situation works.
Thanks .

[Equip] New Modem - Motorola MB8600 vs Arris Surfboard SB8200?
I'm on a gigabit plan with a Comcast CMG4140COM in bridge mode connected to a Ubiquiti ER-X. These modems have an issue where they top out at 400-600Mbps in bridge mode, so I'm looking to buy a replacement to take full advantage of the gigabit speed (I've confirmed ~950Mbps when not in bridge mode).
I've narrowed my options down to either the Motorola MB8600 or the Arris Surfboard SB8200. I've done a lot of research and from what I can tell they're very similar, but as a 'tinkerer', I wanted to get the opinion of others who also care about things like frequency of firmware updates and other technical aspects people like us might care about.
Is there any reason to go with one over the other?

[Equip] Which modem is better Arris T25 or S33
I just downgraded my triple play to a double play so I no longer need the T25 (could possibly sell it or give it to a friend as one of my friends is renting their gateway). Does anyone have any experience with the Arris S33. I have the performance pro plus.

SB8200 Activated but not showing up in My Xfinity account etc
Hi,
My account info had been showing my former MB8600 which I swapped out for my new SB8200 back in October 2020.
I finally got an agent to remove the MB8600 as I could not get it removed myself. He was NOT able to add my SB8200 back in....as if the system was blocking him.
Supposedly he escalated my issue, but I have not heard back and am not past my callback window.....
Any guidance or special phone numbers to get ahold of somebody who can fix this.....???
Meanwhile, my SB8200 works nicely at my 600/20 tier.....

telephone as backup
Hi friends,
Please see screen grab, taken at https://www.xfinity.com/learn/offers
QUESTION: If/when (as is likely) the depicted online webpage ordering process to sign up for Xfinity connectivity has some problem and does not work, WHAT is the telephone number to call for help and finish the job, please? I cannot see it anywhere!
Not a current customer. No current connectivity at a new site yet Xfinity IS available (already checked).
Perhaps interested in some of the offers on this webpage (not the one shown).
Yet bottom line, concerned if/when there's a malfunction how that gets resolved efficiently. Moving Day is coming very soon!
Thank you, Ugly

[Connectivity] MoCA adapters
Hi, so my situation is I have 2 x1 boxes. One of those boxes is a main dvr and the other is a secondary. I have a cable modem as well in one of the rooms. I use an xbox game console in the same room as one of the tv outlets. My question is, would it be reasonable to be able to have a MoCA adapter near the modem and one near the tv outlet for a hardwired connection for my xbox? Would it ruin my tv experience since x1 tv uses MoCA?

New Technician Install tomorrow for Internet/TV question
So i'm scheduled to get my gigabit internet + TV installed tomorrow. They have not shipped me a modem or our cable boxes though in advance. Is this something the tech will likely have on his truck with him? Also if I wanted the wireless TV boxes would they likely have some of those on the truck too?

[Equip] Activated XB7, old modem still on account and working
I recently activated an XB7 from ordering xFi complete to get unlimited data and I noticed that my old owned modem (CM600) is still on the account and active. I added my old modem to my splitter and it still works! It has its own IP address and the account portal shows the modem is online. Even data usage (the account portal counts them separately) is working.
Devices page:
https://i.imgur.com/qrmcp2Y.png
I have the Extreme Pro plan with 600 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up. The XB7 gets those speeds however the CM600 gets 6 Mbps upload instead of 20 Mbps (and 600 Mbps download). It also seems that the connection is not shared but I can't verify that at the moment.
So my question is, should I stop using my old modem? It seems like they activated the XB7 as a voice modem and the CM600 as a cable modem

[NodePlus0] General Discussion of N+0 deployment activity
I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

Changing IP Address with New Modem or Router?
After failing to obtain a new IP address from customer service I've been told I need to change equipment if I want it to change. Do I need to swap out the modem or the router to initiate the provisioning of a new IP address to my account? Seems drastic but I feel like our home may be the target of DDOS attacks. Customer support says a DDOS against our IP Address is not possible and the issue can be (you know, a list of things that dont apply to my situation) so I feel I'm out of options. The equipment is owned by me, not rented. If a DDOS attack was happening, what is listed in the logs? Would it be logged in the router or modem logs?

[Price] Strange call from Comcast/xFinity today re upcoming promotion
A call came in today supposedly from Comcast. The caller had an Indian accent I suspected it might be some kind of scam but the guy didn't ask for cc/personal info so I guess it might have been legit. Unfortunately my Mom picked up on the other handset so I didn't quite get many details about it, other than supposedly things were going to cost less (sh'yeah right). I suppose the guy may have figured out I wasn't going to fall for any nonsense and just cut his losses (in case he was a scammer). If it makes a difference I'm in Portland OR and have both Digital Starter + Blast Pro internet (tops out around 300 Mbps download, but my cable modem --an SB 6141- doesn't support more than around 250). I negotiated a year-long contract sometime late last year.
Anyone heard about this?
