I'm seeing the following in my Arris SB8200 event log. When this occurs, I lose Internet connectivity. I realize Comcast is responsible for firmware, but what exactly is going on here? It looks like this is occurring every ~12 hours.

Fiber coming down my street!
8/13/2020
so... i saw a truck outside with communications labeled on it, and i noticed they were working on the box behind the amplifier next to my house, so i asked the guys what they were doing, they are pulling strings to pull fiber through the neighborhood!
right now its just the thick rope, they are using a fish tape and a large air compressor to push it through the conduits.
they told me tomorrow they will use those ropes to pull fiber though, and they have 5000 feet to do. i asked them if they will take out the old coax, and they basically said it will get abandoned.
they are not the ones doing the fiber splicing, so maybe the fiber gets pulled, and just gets left alone for a while.
so i figured id just start my own thread to track (or not track) how long it takes to get what i assume will be rphy eventually.
assuming the signals will get better (snr) when they do finally do upgrades, but we shall see.

Advice on utilizing Incoming march Speed Boost and new service
Hey guys, moving to new apartment where only Comcast is available. I am computer savvy but not networking savvy. They got cable gigabit that will jump from 1000Mbps(1200Mbps with 20% overprovisioning) to 1200Mbps(1440Mbps) next month. To take advantage of this I decided to get an Arris S33 & a multigig NIC for my desktop. Issue is I need wifi in the house too, Multigig WAN + LAN routers seem to be rare & very expensive, I learned I can't just plug in a 2.5G switch to the modem to plug in both my desktop and 1G router into due to the 1 IP address limit.
Question/Option #1 how cheap can we get a multigig router set up so I can have 2.5G LAN to my PC with wifi(wifi speed doesn't matter could be 300Mbps for all I care) via 1 IP address?
#2 If taking advantage of 1200Mbps without selling your kidney is a lost cause then what's a good affordable 1Gbps router(I was looking at the Mikrotik lineup and they got a lot of options from $50-$100) to pair with my future S33? Fyi I want the neat features I missed out on from renting a gateway like good QoS, ability to bandwidth cap specific devices or outright ban them etc.
#3 I will be getting Gigabit with no data cap which will be more expensive. Considering I'll be a new customer is it worth it to just rent their gateway(I heard XB7 has 2.5G WAN & a 2.5G LAN) from a $$$ perspective? Supposedly you can get a discount if you have a no data cap service paired with their rented gateway. Thanks in advance!

Did Comcast make the "best" decision to stay competitive
Altice/Cablevision made the decision to go "full fiber" to the customer in order to remain competitive with Verizon Fios in the NY metro area. Comcast says "We are going to milk this Docsis to the end" and still remain competitive with Verizon Fios.
Did Comcast make the right decision?

[Equip] XB7 Technicolor CGM4331COM/Arris TG4482 - Wireless AX(Wi-Fi 6)
Looks like a new xfinity gateway passed through testing. No idea if it's going to be called the XB6 still, probably XB7 or something. Model number seems to be CGM4331COM. The test report mentions that it has 802.11ax. Looks like this unit may only have 4 antennas(4x4 AX on both bands). The current XB6 are a 2x2 N 2.4 GHz + 8x8 AC 5 GHz design(I believe it has a total of 12 antennas as a result).
See -
https://fcc.io/G95/4331X
Submitted shortly before it, are two other Technicolor devices called the XHR1-TC and the XHU1-TC. The XHU1-TC might be something like the current XB6 power supply, but upgraded? Its description is listed as "LTE power supply." The XHR1-TC is listed as a Zigbee repeater.
No idea if this will have a fan, but the label does say 12V/4.6A, so 55.2 watts, so I guess it will. The original Technicolor XB6(CGM4140COM) had a 60 watt power supply.
Edit: Changed title to reflect XB7
Edit2: Title updated again to mention Arris version if it arrives.

[Mobile] "Xfinity Mobile" wireless service
As mentioned in this recent DSLR news item https://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Comcast-Prepares-For-Mid2017-Wireless-Service-Launch-139048 , Comcast is planning a mid-year launch of their wireless service.
Comcast announced today that they will be providing the details on this new service on Thursday:
Comcast to Host Analyst Event to Discuss Launch of Mobile Initiative
Comcast press release, Business Wire - April 3, 2017
http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20170403005198/en/Comcast-Host-Analyst-Event-Discuss-Launch-Mobilequote:On Thursday, April 6, 2017, Comcast will host an analyst event to discuss the details of its previously announced mobile initiative, which utilizes an existing MVNO agreement. Senior members of the Comcast leadership team will participate in the event. ...There is also this FierceCable article today about it:
Comcast sets Thursday meeting with investors to discuss wireless launch
By Daniel Frankel, FierceCable - April 3, 2017
http://www.fiercecable.com/cable/comcast-sets-thursday-meeting-investors-to-discuss-wireless-launchquote:Some of the telecom industry’s most closely guarded secrets could finally be revealed Thursday, when Comcast hosts what it calls an “analyst event to discuss the details of its previously announced mobile initiative.”
:
Comcast confirmed plans to launch a wireless service combining the strengths of its vast Wi-Fi network and its MVNO deal with Verizon back in September. The launch has been slated for sometime later this year.
:
Last week, FierceWireless reported that Comcast is quietly partnering with Apple as it prepares to launch wireless service under the brand Xfinity Mobile: http://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/comcast-quietly-taps-iphone-ahead-launch-xfinity-mobile
The cable giant’s name has been added to behind-the-scenes - but publicly available - code that lists carrier bundles for the iPhone. The list of carrier bundles is used by iTunes and iPhones to determine whether the iPhone’s SIM is supported by a service provider with whom Apple has an agreement, then provisions the phone accordingly.
The iPhone's latest list of carrier bundles includes "Verizon_Comcast_LTE_US," and mentions the service "Xfinity Mobile." A source pointed out the reference to FierceWireless, and a different source with knowledge of the matter confirmed that Comcast has indeed partnered with Apple ahead of the launch of Xfinity Mobile. Comcast FIBER installed in my area next to empty Fios conduit
As a (long) follow-up to my older 11-month-old thread found here: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32733189-Comcast-Fiber-Install-amongst-Comcast-Coax-Land
There's contractors scattered ALL OVER our development installing new conduit (alongside the empty Verizon Fios conduit) for Comcast fiber. They picked up from where they left off 11 months ago, and are now branching out in all directions. Using machines to push under roadways... it's crazy how many contractors are out here. I'm guessing they want to beat Verizon to the punch, in case if Verizon ever decides to come back and start pulling fiber through their abandoned empty Fios conduit.
I haven't received any fliers/notification yet, but it's interesting to see all this taking place. I don't know of anyone else that has Comcast fiber in their neighborhood.

[Price] Education Teacher / Faculty / Staff Discounts ?
Hi, I was reviewing the Xfinity website tonight and noticed that they now claim to offer discounts for educators including faculty, staff, and teachers. I qualify and completed the Sheer ID verification, received the email in my .edu inbox, clicked the link to https://www.xfinity.com/teacher , and it does not display any actual plans? Where I can see what the actual discounted / special plans are for educators? I am aware there is some kind of gift card offer, but I am really more interested in getting either a lower monthly rate, or perhaps a slightly nicer plan for the same money I pay now.

[Install] Modem died; found wire from electric meter to NID not connected
I awoke on a recent morning to find my internet was down and all five status lights on my Zoom 5370 were flickering green. Upon unplugging and replugging the modem now all it does is emit a faint high-pitched whine with no lights. I tested the transformer with a multimeter and found it still outputs the labeled 12V, so it must be the modem that's toast. The weather was calm the night this happened.
For another bit of history, shortly after I bought the modem about five years ago, there was an incident on a rainy/stormy night where I heard a *pop* come from my computer room. When I went to investigate I found that the WAN port on my PC-based router was dead, yet the modem has been fine all these years. The modem was plugged into a surge protector, so my assumption has always been a surge came in through the coax, went through but somehow did not affect the modem, and fried the PC's ethernet port, but I don't know if such a thing is really possible.
In doing my homework now to understand how to better protect my next modem (e.g. avoid using a surge protector- or UPS-based coaxial protector), I learn that it's very important for the grounding block at the demarcation point to actually be...grounded. I took a look at mine and found that there is a black wire from the electric meter that runs inside the NID a couple feet away that's not actually connected to anything! I assume this must be the ground wire.
[att=1]
When I subscribed to Comcast in 2013 this was a completely new install for this house; the NID and the wiring inside and out were all installed at the same time and, except for the later cable burial, haven't been touched since then. My question is, is there any conceivable reason the installer would run this wire but not connect it? I could see if they forgot or didn't care/bother to do anything about grounding (neither seems good, of course), but to still run the wire and not take the extra 10 seconds to screw it down makes me wonder if it was intentional for some reason unknown to my non-electrician, non-technician self. Can I just connect the wire myself, or do I need to get a Comcast technician to look at it?
On the subject of protection, I was looking at installing this ground block with this spike protector at the modem. I've seen TechToolSupply linked on these forums a few times, and they carry the same ground block but their only spike protector is also a cable isolator. Is there any harm to installing an isolator if I don't (know I) need one? Seeing as how that component has two female connectors is that supposed to be used instead of a ground block and not function as downstream protection like that other protector? Any thoughts on either strategy?
Thanks in advance for the long read and any insight.

Finding EPON properties??
Welp were moving back to NJ sadly. I made it a point with my girlfriend that we aren't moving anywhere that doesn't have fiber. But I realize some parts of NJ don't have fios still.
Does anyone know if theres some way to find properties wired for Comcast's EPON network? Broadbandnow.com is kinda useless & well be renting for a few more years so GigabitPro will be out of the question as well.

[Firmware] LACP support

[DOCSIS] Recommended Attenuator
My line is running a bit too hot. Spread across all channels ranges from 10dB to 6dB. This is even already behind a 6dB attenuator. Thinking I should up it to a 12dB, to bring my spread closer to 0 - 4dB.
Upload ranges from 38 - 40 dB.
Anyone have a specific brand forward path attenuator they could recommend? So many mixed reviews on ones from Amazon.

[CDV] Comcast Dropping Voice2Go and the Connect App
I just learned that Comcast is dropping both the Mobile Connect App and the Voice2Go feature.
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-connect-sunset
I'm disappointed by the loss of both features.
The Connect app let me take home phone calls on my cell phone - a useful feature.
Voice2Go virtual phone numbers were a nice feature. We haven't actually used it for several years, so I guess this is not such a great loss for us. Still...
