Downstream SNR

My down stream snr is around 42-43. My upload power is the same. Are they acceptable? The reason I ask is a lot stuff that's written about it doesn't really mention it that high.

If you can get Verizon Fios, why do you stay with Comcast?

Comcast installed coax with electrical lines causing major issue

3 years ago or so i had humming sound sub-woofer found coming from coax line it ground loop. Comcast said come back install rod...never did so i bought isolator as fix. Now im having weird issues computer so upgraded thinking was issue part...nope i got sick troubleshooting build whole new computer as time upgrade anyways. Still picking up interference. I took into another apartment and same thing. I took to work and fine. Something interfering with my PC and feel in the computer and causing my mouse it get floaty lag almost like acceleration but not that and worst under load because fans and light inside prone interference. Anyways had electrician in didn't find nothing but didn't really look. Randomly decided to disconnect Comcast again and what shock goes away instantly. But slowly creeps back Problem its coax in wall touching electrical lines....We have 3 floors here and even with it disconnected lines in wall downstairs upstairs sending it to my electrical wires and passing right though my electrical outlet. And how figure this out was shut breaker off for outlets at coax and they still test current from outlet. And if i touch coax to ground it goes away. Mind you also im detecting EMF on my TV on wall and soundbar not even plugged in It radiating through my wall!! Even if i TOUCH THE WALL near electrical line it stops that how bad is keep in mind this is with no power being fed to those outlets my breaker is off it being fed definitely from upstairs anything they do i can feel it in computer. Sometime better and most time worst. Also cant use wifi it just adds to issue when i fix problem temporarily by moving coax lines in wall just right but always touching somewhere even close proximity just takes longer to build up and effect computer. I see alot off same problem and no one seem fix other than one guy who moved out. How much wanna bet these all same problem https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/bafhfe/update_after_years_of_mouse_input_lag_and_other/ https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?t=6498 https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectroBOOM/comments/j79say/electricity_causing_input_lag/

I am Considering upgrading to the XB7 , being as I just upgraded to a Wifi 6 ASUS RT-AX88U router. Is there anyone currently using a XB7 router in bridge mode? , or do we know if Comcast removed this ability with this new model? Thanks in advance...

Upgrade to gigabit to improve latency?

I currently have the 600 mbps package and I would like to improve my latency. I read somewhere on xfinitys website that the gigabit package has lower latencies. Maybe because less people get it? I was also thinking of upgrading my hardware. Currently Orbi RBK50 and Motorola MB 7621.

[NodePlus0] General Discussion of N+0 deployment activity

I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

sb8200 firmware

booted up my sb8200 for giggles, and i noticed the firmware updated on it. i have no idea how to search this forum to see if someone has mentioned it yet. AB01.02.053.01_112320_193.0A.NSH in spectrum analyzer it has a link to UDA spectrum analyzer, and it zooms in between 90 mhz and 105 mhz, like the oob zone for mid split, whats this all about? to see if anything around you is causing interference? then when you are on uda, theres a link to speca, and speca shows you the entire specturm, also noticing on here its actually showing some activity on the upstream, no idea what thats all about because when zooming in, it doesnt show the 5 channels very clearly [att=1] [att=2] [att=3]

[Equip] XB7 Technicolor CGM4331COM/Arris TG4482 - Wireless AX(Wi-Fi 6)

Looks like a new xfinity gateway passed through testing. No idea if it's going to be called the XB6 still, probably XB7 or something. Model number seems to be CGM4331COM. The test report mentions that it has 802.11ax. Looks like this unit may only have 4 antennas(4x4 AX on both bands). The current XB6 are a 2x2 N 2.4 GHz + 8x8 AC 5 GHz design(I believe it has a total of 12 antennas as a result). See - https://fcc.io/G95/4331X Submitted shortly before it, are two other Technicolor devices called the XHR1-TC and the XHU1-TC. The XHU1-TC might be something like the current XB6 power supply, but upgraded? Its description is listed as "LTE power supply." The XHR1-TC is listed as a Zigbee repeater. No idea if this will have a fan, but the label does say 12V/4.6A, so 55.2 watts, so I guess it will. The original Technicolor XB6(CGM4140COM) had a 60 watt power supply. Edit: Changed title to reflect XB7 Edit2: Title updated again to mention Arris version if it arrives.

Extreme Pro Questions

I have read what is available here on the forum and searched on Xfinity for some answers buy cannot seem to find what I am looking for. I am in Vermont and am currently on Blast which here is 300/10. My questions.. has anyone seen a speed increase to 400 from the 300 in Vermont or in the Northeast because I heard there was going to be a bump to 400? Secondly, the next tier for me would be Extreme Pro. I cannot seem to find what the up/down for that tier are but surmise it would be 600/20 or there about. Before I signup for the Extreme Pro, curious to see if anyone has been bumped to 400. Thanks for the replies.

[Connectivity] VPN connection problem...

Hello...I provide technical support for associates within a company that has a few offices and numerous people who work remotely throughout the country. Been trying to help one remote worker who is about 25 minutes outside of Lancaster, PA. Received a help call from this person who stated starting on Friday 1/29 their VPN connection would drop then re-connect during the day. This is bad as this person lives in a Mainframe application all day long. The blip of the VPN disconnecting then re-connecting breaks the Mainframe connectivity (as it is a network dependent application) Went through the basic troubleshooting trying to get to the bottom of the situation. It was stated that a Verizon LTE network extender was plugged into the router (for cell phone) along with a land line phone for IP phone service. Keep in mind there were no issues for over a year before this started. Had our guy unplug these devices from the router. The issue still persisted. Trying to rule out the wireless connection we hard wired the laptop into the router via an ethernet cable. The same dropping continued with no consistent time to the drops. Re-installed the VPN software and certificates to no avail. Verified wireless software and ethernet drives are up to date. Been combing through VPN logs but the am unable to locate the magic nugget of information that will resolve this mystery. We did have the associate work at a relative's house for a day about an hour from home. In this location there were no drops in connectivity. This rules out the laptop. Comcast was called and the home equipment was restarted from the support desk. This did not resolve the issue. The residence has robust internet speeds with low latency to the host server (basic speed tests). That is not the be all end all as far as line quality but we as a tech team have been fighting bad internet with our calls since pandemic started and do not feel this is the case here. All other devices in the house are functional with no noticeable disrupts in connectivity. Has anyone experienced this and what could we look at with the home network? The modem is provided by Comcast and is compatible with the current environment. As a rule we do not troubleshoot home equipment but am trying to help out a person who is on an island with this issue (and desperate for resolution). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Dave

I have a family member switching to Comcast and want to buy their own equipment and not pay the rental. They will be having a voice service with Extreme 600 down 15 up internet. What would be a good all-in-one unit for them? I am sure they will never be going any higher on the internet speed. Thanks

[Account] Switch service to my wife's name for new customer deals?

My glorious $70/month gigabit promo ends next month. I've tried multiple times to try and renew at a discounted rate, but have had no success (called retention line, spoke to reps on the comcast subreddit, etc). The best deal they could offer me was $95/month with a one year contract, whereas the self-service website is offering me gigabit for $100 with no contract. When I browse deals at my address as a new customer, I'm seeing gigabit at $85/month with a one year contact, with each slower tier being $10 cheaper. I'm toying with the idea of having my wife sign up as a new customer to get this better pricing, but there are some logistics involved since we both WFH and can't be without internet for long while the transition occurs. Have any of you successfully done an account switch at your address and minimized service outage?

Upgraded to Extreme Pro 1000 only see upload increase

I upgraded from Extreme Pro 500 to 1000, only seeing upload increase but not download. Is it because of my model (CM8200A), config file rejected, or do I need to enable LAG on both CM8200A and RT-AX88U?

Performance Starter - Paying full price $55.95/mo

I currently have the stand alone performance starter (25/3) plan. I haven't been on any kind of promotional pricing for several years now. Currently paying $55.95/mo which in itself is ridiculous for what it is. I tried getting any promo I could online, said I was willing to be on a 12 or 24/mo contract with paperless billing and auto payment even, but the agent I spoke with kept trying to up-sell and get me to sign up for a double or triple play package. Frustrated I gave up. Anyone have any luck physically walking into a xfinity store looking for a promotion? There is one not more than 5 minutes from me. I am debating about walking in there right now.

Performance starter

I'm in the Boston market and Performance starter is $49.95. I can't find the speed for this level. It used to be 10Mbs but I heard it is now 25Mbps. Does anyone know? 25 is enough for me these days. I would have gone to this in the past but it had a cap. Now that all tiers have a cap I want to try this. Can I use my own modem on this tier? Thanks

What happened in Eastern MA at ~11PM-ET on Feb/24?

I lost an SSH session tonight and then saw that my router warned me that it had switched to the LTE backup -- this isn't super unusual. Outage was just a few minutes. What was unusual is that Nest emailed warnings to me that both of my parents' doorbell cameras also went offline at 11PM -- we all live in separate towns within 10-20 miles, but we're all on Comcast -- seems like crazy odds we'd all have an outage at the same time unless it was something substantial (and regional) Curious if anyone on the forum (from this area or not) noticed the hiccup tonight, or if anyone knows what might have happened?

Did Xfinity turn off 2.4ghz hotspots?

Looks like whole neighborhood is only 5ghz xfinitywifi. Did Xfinity turn off residential 2.4ghz hotspots? Noticed my gateway is no longer broadcasting 2.4ghz hotspot for older devices to use only 5ghz. Tried disabling and re-enabling hotspot even factory reset. Checked with multi devices with SSID scanner.

Comcast to AT&T Plex Streaming Reliability?

$

I just moved into a building that only has service from Comcast. Previously I had Sonic VDSL2 service 110/60. For years I've run a Plex server. One friend has AT&T 1000/1000 fiber and they'd stream 20Mbps 1080p videos from my Plex server without buffering. Now that I'm on Comcast 1000/35, even with nothing else happening on the network, it seems to struggle to provide a reliable stream to the AT&T connection. Have others noticed a choke point in the peering between Comcast and AT&T? Or is the paltry Comcast upload just not enough for what I was doing on my VDSL connection?

Are error counts too high on my D3.0 cable modem?

I made sure coax connections are screwed tight. I use gocoax moca 2.1 adapters in my house because Comcast connection drops in my bedroom but needed signal in the living room which is dark loop and as bonus got wired LAN connection between my bedroom and living room. I am not using any splitters. I use Netgear CM600. My signals seem to be within specs though upstream levels are little on high side. No issue with reboots. My internet connection is stable. I have those stats with uptime of 33 days on the modem. [att=1] [att=2]
