Ok, silly question, but now that Comcast does not refund for mid-period cancellation, which date is crucial? For example, my billing date is the 6th for coverage from the next 16th to the following 15th with autopayment scheduled for the 27th. My guess is if the service is cut off by the 16th, the final bill, already generated on the 6th, can be ignored. But is that how Comcast plays it?
New service has been established. Trying to avoid any surprises that they claim once the bill has been generated I'm stuck paying it.

Upload speed issues yet again and a 6th upstream channel appears
It seems Comcast is good at lying.
I've been having upload speed issues on and off for months. Tired to get it resolved but never fully was able to. The supervisor swore up and down there is no congestion.
Today, I look and suddenly there is a 6th upstream channel. That paints a VERY different picture.
Oh and one of the upstream channels is back to 32-QAM again. I swear i hate this company and don't have time to deal with their bullshit being ill currently.

Xb7 wifi issue
Today, after months of working normally, my 2.4 Ghz wifi devices won't connect today. Did anything change for anyone else or is this probably an issue with my xb7 gateway? The 5Ghz devices still work normally. I have separate SSIDs and the 2.4 side still shows up, but connections do not complete. I've tried all the obvious things (sending a reset signal, power cycling, turning the radio off and on in software) with no change. The password still shows as the same.

[CDV] Calls Being Sent Directly to Voicemail.
I find myself in an unusual situation. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I am a Verizon FiOS customer.
I'm not sure when the problem started, but if I try to call telephone numbers that are controlled by Comcast, my calls are being sent directly to the Comcast subscriber's voicemails as opposed to ringing their telephones.
If I call the same telephone numbers using my Verizon Wireless mobile phone, the calls ring through as expected. If I call the same telephone numbers from other Verizon telephone numbers, the calls ring though as expected.
I had a friend who also a FiOS subscriber make test calls to the same telephone numbers, and they rang through as expected.
So, it looks like Comcast is processing my telephone number in some unusual manner.
Now, how do I reach out to Comcast to have them open a trouble ticket when I'm not a Comcast customer? 🤔

Gig Extra Consistent 350-400 download
Upgraded to Gig Extra few weeks ago, getting 350-400 download. Occasionally will test at 500. Waiting on second tech visit. First tech replaced all fittings in home & to pole, removed a multi splitter/amp and put one 2 way splitter feeding the modem & TV. He said there were 'issues' in our area, that only a couple of local techs and one supervisor know about which is preventing some customers getting plan speed. He didn't say what those issues are. Dunnellon Florida head end, we are in Inglis/south Levy County, Gig Extra has only been available here about a month. I'm not smart enough to copy/paste a nice table to put here with signal levels. All SNRs seem what they should be, except downstream on channel 2/363MHz, is 35.8.

Modem restarts every 2.22 days, what do you think?
Hey DSLR!
Been a while since I made a post, but I do still lurk frequently :)
I have the weirdest issue going on to share with you and get some input on. I am working with Xfinity on this as well, so mostly would like some input if anyone has ever seen anything like this before so I might be able to share with them while we figure this out. I'll share back when I figure out what's going on.
Basically, I have a really decent connection (consistent 40-41dBSNR downstream, no uncorrecteds, mid-high 30's dBmV upstream) but my S33 modem happens to restart. In fact, every 2.20 to 2.26 days to be exact. I know this number to that level of accuracy because I updated an old modem poller I wrote for the MB8600 a while back. Get this though: I had that poller working on the MB8611, and was rebooting too. Though, I didn't have the uptime tracking on it, so I can't know if it was the 2.2 day reboot lifespan. I'd have to dig a little deeper into WAN availability logs to actually know that part for sure. In any case, it rebooted a lot too.
You'd think it wouldn't be that weird, but I've had the modem run for the 2.20-2.26 lifetime, and then power cycle as if a docsDevReset/similar was issued, about 4 or 5 times in a row now. Probably more, but I only recently starting logging it formally. If I restart the modem by the way, this virtual "clock" resets. I did that because I was actually engineering the reboot time so it wouldn't happen in the middle of my work day ("if I reboot this myself at X PM, then it'll restart automatically at 2AM in 2 days!") -- that's how predictable this thing is.
Whatever is triggering the reset, it's based on device uptime, not DOCSIS connection uptime. I say this because several minutes of a completely disconnected feed (and a powered modem throughout) in the middle of one of my 2.2 day cycles didn't affect this timer, or clock, let's say. Furthermore, I see nothing in the logs. If I power cycle the modem, the same event log footprint shows up. If I have Xfinity issue a "test device reset" to me, I see the same logs; the S33 doesn't report a technician reset in the event logs; they look the same.
I had a truck roll yesterday, and the technician told me basically everything looked great. He looked at the signals on my end and we even cross-referenced his event logs with the Grafana pages I have (and the corresponding restarts), and we both decided nothing was really going wrong with the line. Radio wise, the signal is great. He just did your usual preventative stuff like reterminating connectors, removing a MoCA filter, checking drop feed losses, what have you. He even moved my feed "upstream" on the tap so my upstream would be lower just in case transient noise was causing the modem to resync somehow. I really appreciated his attention to detail here.
I have a failover with another provider so it's not a big deal necessarily, but I do find it kinda annoying and would like Xfinity to address the problem in case my modem keeps trying to update to a new device firmware version, or something, and it keeps failing.
What do you think?

Has Comcast suspended data usage meter?
I wonder if it’s just my experience, Bay Area or more areas nationwide. I haven’t gotten data usage since December.
In my area AT&T Fiber is pretty competitive though it’s limited to single family homes or brand new MDUs.
Though I saw in my previous apartment rental complex last year Comcast deploying fiber deeper to my neighborhood to increase upload capacity. In my current place I noticed going from 5 to 6 US channels.

comcast.net email accounts
Did I miss a memo?
At one point, if I remember correctly, there was the ability to have up to 5 @comcast.net emails accounts.
I've been looking all over the Xfinity site of my account, and I cannot find the page that allows me to create, delete my @comcast.net email accounts.
Has Comcast stopped providing this service?

[Equip] Does this explain why my speeds are so slow?
Xfinity did some upgrading in the area. When the lights came back on, they really bumped the speed on the old DOCSIS 3.0 modem, pretty much to the limit it could handle. I got excited and on a lark found I was eligible for up to 1Gb service. (W00t!) For $10 more than what I was already paying for, I could get 600Mb/20Mb and started the checkout procedure. I failed the modem check before you purchase, it was just too outdated. I found a great deal at local store for an Arris SB8200.
The walled garden is no more, you have to use the Xfinity App from a smart phone to get the modem up and installed. That took 5 minutes, no biggie. I got all excited again and boosted up to the 600Mb/20mb plan. I check out my cart, get my confirmation e-mail and the SB8200 reboots. Once back online I did a direct wired speed test via gigabit Ethernet and a brand new CAT6e cable aaaaannnnnnndddd.....
My upstream is dead on fast @20Mb, the download, not so much. The best it pulls is 50% of my 600Mb speed tier. I go nosing in the modem's event log and find these lines you see above.
*Thinking* it's a provisioning problem, I give Xfinity a call. They can't figure it out, had to authorize overrides, but ultimately had a great cozy chat with 2 lvl-3 techs and appointments for two truck rolls. One for the plant management, the other for a house tech to come investigate the stuff around/in the house.
Color me stupid, but am I off the mark by thinking this is a provisioning problem? The two techs attempted to re-provision twice, and it wouldn't stick. I'm not convinced a truck roll will do it. What say you all?

[Speed] Max speed per node?
I’m wondering what is the max speed per node.
I’ve seen techs pull 1200/100 with the XM2 meter at the tap, but what is the meter “sharing” the speed with?
Can two neighbors pull the same 1200mbps at once without impacting each other?

how do I find out why gmail is bouncing
suddenly almost everything I sent out to a gmail account is bouncing. I sent a very important medical email tonight and it bounced. the error is implying high activity but when I check my IP, my Comcast assigned IP, Comcast smtp address, etc., all come back clean. I have no idea how to go about troubleshooting this. If I try to send to my gmail from other than comcast it goes thru. I use a different email than comcast but cant use their server because comcast is blocking port 25 and port 587 outside comcast so I can only send via comcast servers. With this and their new high prices I am that close to telling comcast to stuff it.

Xfinity Rewards
This was discussed within another topic recently...so I went ahead & signed up for the program. When I did this, one of my "offers" was a $50 Visa gift card, no strings. So I clicked on the offer & it asked a couple questions & then told me it had been submitted & I should receive it in 6-8 weeks. Not really expecting anything to come of this, I was surprised earlier this week when it showed up in my mailbox! :D I have no idea why/how I qualified for this, but I imagine it has to do with length of time being with Comcast & how many services I have - thought I'd share with everyone, in case others might find they have some good offers waiting. ;)
edit: the envelope the card came in had "xfinity mobile" on the front upper left corner, so maybe it's because I have XM...

MB8600 modem - Does Xfinity enable / support link aggregation?
Okay, I seem to be finding / reading conflicting information on this...
I have Xfinity 1200 Mbps internet service. Current equipment is below:
Modem - Motorola MB8600 which has ports 1 and 2 that TECHNICALLY support link aggregation.
Wifi system - Orbi RBK753S AX4200 (bought a month ago when I was not planning to switch to gigabit yet). No 2.5 Gbps port ,but supports WAN aggregation using one of the LAN ports (via built in config option).
My question is as follows:
Does Xfinity's implementation actually support the MB8600 link aggregation (menaing both ports will be active and allow link aggregation to work) or will only 1 port work?
I am seeing mixed info about this online.
Someone who apparently is using link aggregation semi successfully with the MB8600 (not sure with which ISP) said his connection drops routinely and he has to reboot (hence I referred to it as semi successfully). Can't find the post now. :(

Has Comcast given up on RFoG?
While I'm currently a CenturyLink Fiber customer and have no interest in Comcast period (symmetrical speeds & cloning my ONT to another model fixed my latency issues).
But I have read here from some people that Comcast has stopped doing RFoG in favor of Node+0 for greenfields. Is that true?
If it's true, I'm guessing it's because RFoG can't easily handle DOCSIS 4.0 or FDX, hence why they reverted to Coax (assuming they did). IMHO EPON makes more sense for greenfield and RFoG overlays than Node+0, but I can still understand Coax may be more cost effective for a MSO.
Yes I know Comcast won't overbuild fiber to me, and I'm not asking for it. My home is from 1930 and is not in a HOA. And I wouldn't have interest in Comcast EPON anyways if another fiber ISP existed (EPON won't fix Comcast customer service).

There is so much right about this article wrt Comcast
https://www.greenevillesun.com/news/local_news/county-committee-backs-glps-over-comcast-in-broadband-effort/article_33007091-45ba-5379-a9ab-5c9b08fce534.html
"We are here local. You know us. We are here for Greene County," Bowlin said. "Our product and our customer service will be better than Comcast."
"Comcast has no customer service by the way," committee member Robin Quillen responded.
Comcast also currently relies on a fiber-coaxial hybrid network which holds back the speed and stability of the network due to the outdated coaxial line run to many homes in the county, according to Bowlin.
"When Comcast built this network over 20 years ago it was state of the art, but that was 20 years ago. They have not done anything to upgrade it," committee member Dale Tucker said.
According to Bowlin, GLPS broadband system will be 100% fiber, which allows for faster speeds, download and upload speeds that are the same speed, added reliability, and the ability to increase speeds many times over if necessary in the future.
The information technology director for Greeneville City Schools, Beverly Miller, implored the committee to support GLPS in bringing better broadband options to the county.
"This community deserves better than what they are getting right now from Comcast. They have the ability and resources to do a far better job than they have, and they have chosen not to," Miller said.
I'm glad someone gets it.

What are your thought on these channels?
My MB8600 connectivity has always had the OFDM in the middle of the channel listing and I have always had some errors showing even a few minutes after a reboot.
This morning I rebooted my modem and afterwards, noticed that the OFDM has moved to the bottom of the list and after almost an hour, I am showing no errors. This is with a constant 6Mbps download stream across an IPSEC tunnel from security cameras at a remote location.
Speed tests have been erratic after the reboot with download speeds all over the place.
Could this be node+0 going live here and getting ready for the possible rumored upload increase?

downgraded to only 3US
Overnight my service was reduced from 4US to 3US. There were a bunch of errors in the logs around 3AM. Rebooted my modem and still only have 3US. Missing the lowest channel; the one that's around 17Mhz.
Levels look good. Downstream about 5.0dBmV across the board with 42dB SNR. OFDM a little hotter at 6.0dBmV. Upstream is at 44dBmV. Never have seen any indication of signal problems before.
Here I was hoping I'd get a 5 or 6 US.... NOPE, downgraded to 3. Not the right direction.
