So I currently have a drop coming off a pole in a back alley, going over the yard, and landing on the back of the house. The drop lands on a splitter that currently only has one line coming out, that line runs along the roof and eventually enters the building, hooking into our modem. There is no grounding anywhere between the pole and the modem, which as I understand, is not correct. I realized this after wanting to move some of this stuff around and looking into what it would take. Ideally I would like the drop to land on a demarc mounted to a garden shed that's right under the pole the line comes off of. I could than bury some coax to get to the house underground and pop up on the outside of a closet where I want to relocate the modem and my network rack to. The problem is the electrical service is on the main building, not the garden shed, so how should I do this?
-Can I run a ground wire from the main building to shed? (Its got a branch circuit run to it underground, but I don't think I can take credit for bonding with that).
-Can I drive a rod at the shed and use that or does it need to be tied to the building's grounding system?
-How long can the coax run be from this new demarc at the back of the property be to the modem?
-Who owns the bonded demarc itself, me or comcast?

Fixed wireless an 'inferior product,' Comcast CEO says
https://www.lightreading.com/cable-tech/fixed-wireless-inferior-product-comcast-ceo-says-/d/d-id/775857
On the front page may have been missed by some.
They are comparing fixed wireless 5G to DSL... Completely out of touch and being smug about it.
If Verizon and T-Mobile plays their cards right they have a chance to catch Comcast with their pants down because it seems their answer is pretend it doesn't exist.

Tech Upgrade Plan
Surprised none of you have commented on this yet. This new program looks like a way to keep us from upgrading our Gateway's until once every 3 years. I received an email about this "upgraded new service" today.
Gateway Upgrade.
Subject to the Program terms, you will be eligible to receive an upgrade to your Xfinity Gateway to a more recent Xfinity Gateway, once during a three year period. For existing eligible customers who subscribe to xFi Complete, the three year period begins March 8, 2022. For eligible customers adding xFi Complete after March 8, 2022, the three year period begins on the date xFi Complete is added to your Account. Comcast will notify you when your equipment upgrade is available. To receive the upgrade you must contact Comcast to request the upgrade through the Xfinity App or through such other means as Comcast shall determine. The Gateway upgrade is limited to a more recent Gateway leased by Comcast and will include any additional or new features included with the upgraded Gateway. The upgraded Gateway will not necessarily be an upgrade to our then most advanced Gateway. The Gateway provided as an upgrade will depend on a number of factors, including your Xfinity Internet provisioned speed, the model Gateway currently leased by you, inventory, and other factors. If your then current Gateway is Comcast’s most advanced Gateway and you are eligible for an upgrade, the Gateway will not be upgraded until the next upgraded Gateway is available. Upgraded Gateways shall be subject to availability at the time of your eligibility. Comcast may in its discretion use new or refurbished equipment in connection with your upgrade. You may not substitute the benefits of this Program for cash, a cash equivalent or any other consideration.

[Speed] Considering Switch to Xfinity
Due to recent fiber price increases, I'm interested in some of the more budget friendly plans as my house is a fairly light internet user.
I live in the KC metro area and my subdivision is about 6 years old. I have a comcast pedestal in my back yard. I have opened it up (they keep it unlocked for whatever reason) and it is coax to this pedestal and nobody is currently connected to this pedestal. In my subdivision, it appears that each comcast coax pedestal serves about 4 houses. This is the extent of what I know about Comcast's infrastructure in my neighborhood.
So my question is, is there any way to learn how good the the speeds and signal quality are in my area or how loaded this area is? I dont know anyone in this area using Xfinity so I can't go run some tests at a neighbor's house.
If I get the service I will be purchasing my own MB8611 or S33 and using my own router as I will be using the 50/10 service.
Thanks for any help!

MB8600 Modem - Lost an upstream channel
MB8600 Modem - Lost an upstream channel
For some reason I can tell based on the event log reported by the modem, out of 4 upstrean channels , I only see 3 now. Midco tech checked and didn't find anything wrong. There are 4 channels seen on his test meter. The 4th channel has 40dBv but modem won't show it. Not sure if that would cause these events in the modem?. Does anyone know what would be the possible cause of these ? Thanks

Comcasts refusal to push for FTTP/FTTH why? / Upload / Midsplit
I'm sure this is probably a duplicate topic but why the hell does Comcast have a stubborn refusal to push for FTTP/FTTH? Given the fact all the issues RF has with ingress, spectrum limitations etc. with high maintenance costs, and upstream capacity problems you'd figure they want to do away with it.
The initial investment is expensive but when it's in place I bet their support costs would drop drastically, the service quality would improve drastically, and it would last for tens of years with plenty of upgrade room. IF they did they could utterly destroy any competition and likely many wouldn't push so hard for municipal broadband options which clear they want to shut down.
Heck, They probably could even lobby for money to do but they just refuse and want to stick with dying HFC networks and DOCSIS. It's really starting to show serious limitations and to correctly deeply DOCSIS 4.0 FDX is going to require moving the node very close to users. Why not just go FTTP/FFTH at that point?

[WiFi] Getting Width Setting set properly on XB7-T Gateway
Hello All
Right now my 5ghz Width setting is locked on 20/40/80 setting is there a way to get it possibly unlocked to be able to use 20/40/80/160 setting so wifi 6 devices get the max speed?
I don't care if Xfinity manages the channel autoly and such, right now all settings are managed, even though don't have xfinity pods--just 1 wireless tv box for upstairs TV
Advice? suggestions? should i factory reset it when i got time, and setup manually with Laptop, or would it be a waste of time

[Speed] Can Netgear CM600 get new Blast 600 mbps speeds?
I rebooted my modem today and got the new faster download and upload Blast speeds, but I’m unable to get a speed test faster than around 548 mbps.
I’ve tested several devices, primarily over Wi-Fi, but my ASUS RT-AC88U reported a 802.11ac link speed of 860/860 which should be fast enough. That router is rated up to several gbps. I’ve read the CM600 supports up to 960 mbps, so something else must be going on.
Signals looks great though. Should I expect to get the 600 mbps download speeds?

Also there's an annoying notice box on the modem's web interface now:

Not sure why I would want to use a phone app to see my modem stats when a web browser does the job fine.
No apparent differences in latency or speed so far.

So far, speed tests look great at 59/12Mbps as expected but the buffer bloat results were odd. The download buffer bloat is terrible (+60ms) but upload bufferbloat is awesome (+0ms way better than my fiber is).
Any tweaks to be made to improve download buffer bloat?
