I recently moved into a townhouse with Xfinity gigabit internet and have been loving the speeds overall. What I don't like, however, is how locked down Comcast seems to have the XB6. I am trying to log into the admin page to separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs. However, the usual admin/admin and admin/password combos do not work.
The reason I am trying to do this is because I have a Roku that only can connect via Wi-Fi. Since both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands are being used to broadcast the same SSID, I am unable to join the 5GHz channel specifically. The reason I'd like to do this is because the 2.4GHz band seems to have lots of interference, as according to the built in Roku speed test, I get only a few Mbps of download speed on that channel. This makes sense, as there are two dozen or more Wi-Fi networks that I see when I do a scan.
I would buy my own equipment but my Xfinity service is included in the price of my rent, so I would be saving nothing by doing so. I also don't really want to spend hundreds on a gigabit capable modem and router.
Is there another way to fix this that I am not thinking of? All I really need is to get the Roku to not buffer, that's my true goal here.
