Greetings! I'm trying to diagnose why my father is seeing "pauses" in internet access regularly. Video Calls drop. Movies buffer or fail. And it happens regularly. He is based in Bloomfield, Michigan. He has Xfinity, Internet, and Telephone. The telephone drops as well - Calls disconnected. We have had the modem replaced three times and are being told there are no problems with the cabling ... We will see!
I used a SmokePing and notice there are regular drops in the pings. Is that expected? every 90 minutes or so a whole set of 20 pings are dropped. and sometimes it is two or three tries. I can't see a pattern in when the pings drop though.
When I look at the modem logs I see a couple of things that are surprising. But I'm not an expert. He has an ARRIS TG3482G Modem.
The two concerning things are the Downstream Channel Bonding Value has a column which has an Index of 0 and says NotLocked. Is that a concern?
The SNR for all the downstream channels is ~37 or 38
At the same time on the Upstream I see five channels "locked" but there is a huge number of CM Error Codewords. The modem has only been up for 36 hours and yet the uncorrectable codewords is giant. Some screenshots below ... I would appreciate any guidance or advice.
Thanks - Pat
