Just moved into a new house and chose to go with Comcast for Internet and TV. We have the Blast Plus! Package that includes HBO and local channels. Speeds should be 50/10, and the speed tests show about 57/12 when the internet is working. We performed a self-install as I refused to pay $50 for the install and $30 for both tv outlets (living room and bedroom is not wired for coax). We have not setup the cable boxes as of yet due to time constraints and getting other things done on the house, but I have the modem setup with our router in the basement.

2) A description of the problem. Modem loses connection after just a few hours - requires reboot to get connection back.

All the lights on the modem light up correctly, I will say it does seem to take longer to lock on to the signal at the new house compared to our old house/provider. The modem lights up blue on the DS/US indicating Docsis 3.0 connectivity, although when the internet goes out, US light changes to Green to indicate Docsis 2.0.
I believe it is a signal issue, just not sure how to deal with it. Currently I have the drop coming into the house that is attached in the basement to a floor joist with a grounding block. From there I have a short 5ft Coax cable to a 2-way splitter, to another 5ft coax cable which goes to another 2-way splitter, which then connects to another short peice of coax and finally to the modem. The open connections on the splitter have nothing currently plugged into them.
