1) Pasadena, MD 2) Modem will not connect most of the time. 3) Last weekend, my modem starting connecting intermittently. Through the weekend, it was mostly not connecting, occasionally connecting late night/early morning. 4) Zoom 5341J, SW 5.5.8.6J 5) Modem connects to a router. Router connects to computer. 6) Windows 7 firewall, AVG anti-virus. Modem indicators when trying to connect: Power indicator solid green Online indicator is off DS indicator blinks and then lights solid green, US indicator blinks green. After a few minutes of not connecting, the DS indicator will then start blinking again until it turns solid green and then the US indicator begins blinking again. And the cycle continues to repeat. Modem indicators if connected: Power indicator solid green Online indicator is on DS indicator solid blue US indicator solid green Cable configuration inside home: All interior cabling is RG6 quad shield. Cable runs from outside ground block to an Electroline EDA-FT08100 8 port amplifier (0dB return path insertion loss). Modem is connected to one of the amplifier ports. No recent changes to inside cabling. When the modem is trying to connect, I can see the upstream power level varying quite a bit. When the modem does connect, the upstream power is 57 dBmV, which I know from reading this forum is too high. I connected the modem directly to the cable before the ground block. It would not connect any better than inside the home. I also purchased a new Motorola SB6121 and experienced the same behavior. The DS indicator would light solid but the US indicator would just blink. The new modem would not connect either. I think the problem lies outside my home. Is there a way to ask Comcast to correct the problem without having to make an appt? On a side note, if my modem is unable to connect upstream, why does the Xfinity On-Demand appear to work? Doesn't that use the same upstream path as the modem?
