[Caps] 1 GB of Background Traffic a Day?

I noticed towards the end of September that my bandwidth meter was increasing more than usual. There is no cap in my area and I'm well below 250 GB so no big deal but curious. As we got into October, sure enough my bandwidth seemed to be a bit higher than I've ever seen. It's looked to be about 1-2 GB higher a day, and I've not changed my internet habits or devices. I turned off the WiFi on my router, ran scans and was showing no viruses. The LAN on my computer was showing normal bandwidth usage that matched up to my downloading / uploading, but the Comcast bandwidth meter was showing higher usage. As a last troubleshooting step, disconnected from my router. Basically for two days I just had a cable modem plugged into the router, synced with nothing hooked up to it and no WiFi connections. No odd logs showing on the router, but obviously the traffic light blinking. My bandwidth meter continues to increase by 1 to 2 GB a day with nothing else connected? Is this really some sort of background traffic running on the local Comcast network. If I download / upload a few GB of data, the meter seems pretty accurate and will then show that bandwidth ON TOP OF the 1 GB per day background. Could someone have a virus on our node that is flooding my modem / router with with requests adding up to 1 GB per day? No errors in the router or modem log, just a constant 1 GB of usage that's not coming from my devices but registering on my meter. Comcast doesn't seem too concerned as there is no cap enforcement in my area, but I guess I'm just curious on what would have changed to cause phantom usage.
