How do I go about getting new customer pricing again?
Do I cancel service first and then do the switch or do I keep service and then wait for the other person to sign up and get there new equipment?

[Speed] Slow loading, fast download
I keep having issues where I check my speed and its flying but pages take forever to load on all computers. Even my playstation seems slow to load. I have a feeling this is why Comcast changed from the plan I had to another with faster speeds and one year free of basic cable. I think they put me on some tiered plan where if the bandwith is needed it will then send it but i dont have it always creating a delay that is extremely noticeable. Sorry I dont know the proper terminology!!! What can I do?
Thanks,
Tom

[Connectivity] Numerous disconnects / timeouts, running out of ideas
I currently in NJ, paying for 200Mbps service.
I am having frequent disconnects / T3 and T4 timeouts with my HSI. This issue is intermittent, we may go a day or two without issue, then have one or two timeouts / disconnects in a day, then a day like today where I get multiple disconnects per hour. This has been happening for the past two months or so.
Today 02/20/17 I've had disconnects at 18:33:58, 19:26:29, 19:30:49, 19:31:00, and 20:23:43.
I've had a tech visit about a week ago. He thought the issue was corroded connections coming into the outside splitter, all connections were replaced, but it did not fix the issue.
After reading this forum, I thought the 6-way splitter being used (Antronix 2006V) might be making the signal too low (upstream often below -8.0dB, downstream often be above 50.0dB), so I replaced it with a 3-way Antronix 2003V. After that the signal levels were much improved (downstream +0.2dB to -0.6dB, S/N 42.2dB to 40.4dB, upstream 43.8dB to 42.3 dB). Unfortunately after this the disconnects / timeouts continue.
I've also replaced the original Arris SB6183 modem with a Netgear CM600 and my current Motorola MB7420. The Netgear and Motorola both show better signals than the Arris - but all three have had the disconnect / timeout issue.
BTW, my son said once that other kids in the neighborhood had an outage at the same time as us, but I don't have enough info to claim this is an issue for the area.
I really don't want to just have another tech come out again to say the signal is fine, and get charged $40 for a service call. But beyond calling again, I'm wondering what else I can try. Thanks.

[Price] Gigabit Pro now $149/month?
Was absentmindedly scrolling through my upgrade offers today, and came across the attached: seems Gigabit Pro is now being offered at $149/mo for 24 months with no install fees (see attached screenshot). I'm in a DC new construction (mid-2016) MDU.
Put the order through... will report back on what happens. But has anyone else seen this pricing? Online ordering?

[Equip] Amplifier and splitter arrangement help
I'm looking to improve my current set-up for internet, HDTV, and digital TVs at my house. The incoming cable is feeding into an Electroline Dropamp (EDA 2100, 54-1000Mhz. That then feeds an Antronix 2-way splitter (CMC2002H-A, 5-1002Mhz). One output is going to my cable modem/router and the other is feeding an Antronix 8-way splitter (CMC2008H, 5-1000Mhz). The 8-way splitter is feeding 2-HDTV boxes and 3-digital TVs.
I've been having intermittent problems with my HDTVs not getting on demand and have been reading a lot of posts. My current set-up is over 7 years old so guessing the amplifier is outdated and not up to snuff. I'm wondering if it's better to have a combination amplifier and splitter for just the internet and HDTVs, and to feed a downstream splitter from that for the basic digital TVs? Or I could get away with a amplifier/8-way splitter for everything? Does anyone recommend a specifc amplifier for Comcast internet and HDTV applications. Thanks.

[Connectivity] Very strange problem: Internet
This is strange...
On Comcast in Western NJ (former Patmedia). Normal speeds: 235 down, 12 up. Very consistent. Rural area. Only house on line extension. All signals normal as per Comcast.
Starting 2 weeks ago, and occurring 4-5 times at appx. 8pm downstream speed drops to .01-1 Mb/s. Upstream consistent. All voltages and s/n are good. Modem DPC3941 reboots itself. Speeds come back to 4-5 Mb/s. Then 30 minutes or so later back to full speed. Television normal during this. No abnormal weather.
No streaming or other high bandwidth usage going on in this house.
Any thoughts? (comcast tech out today referring to plant maintenance)

[Plan] Side Discussion on DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit service
Mod Note: This topic started as "XI Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 - data cap with 3-year agreement?" It has become a general discussion of this deployment, hence the title change. uid://455626
If you actually have had this service installed, the stickied report topic is here. > https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30960001-Speed-Report-DOCSIS-3-1-Gigabit-Service-Here If you report, please include info requested in the first post and keep that topic strictly on topic. Thanks, sortofageek
The XI Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 is now available in my area. I am tempted to sign up. Early reports said unlimited data with a 3-year agreement. The Comcast website says nothing but the typical disclaimer about the data usage plan. I don't want to sign a 3-year agreement for a plan with a data cap. Does anyone know if the XI Gigabit service is subject to the data usage nonsense?

[Business] 2 CSRs have told me "Xfinitywifi cannot be disabled" per policy
So I called twice today to have the Xfinitywifi disabled on my works DPC3939B, and both times the rep refused and told me that the "policy" was that it could not be disabled.....
is this for real now? I have absolutely called in the past to have it turned off (numerous times, since it keeps turning itself back on)......

[Connectivity] SB8200 Second WAN Port
Could both WAN Ports on the SB8200 be used at the same time? I know on the Techicolor Modem Comcast Supplies you cannot use them both at the same time. Will the 8200 pull a second IP address so you can use them both at once? Last time I looked at the description of the SB8200 on Amazon it said you could use the second WAN Port to setup a dual network. What would be a good router to use with the 8200?
thanks,
Marc

[Speed] DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit Service Slow
I've had the Gigabit service for about 3 months now. When I first got it it was running great - speed tests consistently ~940mbit down and ~42mbit up.
I ran a speed test a week ago out of curiosity and noticed that my downstream has taken a bit of a hit (and seems to vary quite significantly from test to test) and my upstream has taken a massive hit. My upstream is regularly testing between 2-12 mbit - nowhere near where it should be.
Line stats look good (as far as I can tell), so I think there may be some type of issue upstream. I called Comcast and they wanted to send a tech out, who was kind enough to say he showed up yesterday and then cancel the appointment since I wasn't there (where he blatantly didn't show at all), so I've had to reschedule again for them to come out this weekend.
Anyone have any ideas?

How to Order Gigabit Pro?
Called up the phone # and got transferred to the business department which then told me to fill out the form here: https://www.xfinity.com/xfinity-one-gig-signup
The page mentions modem speeds so I'm thinking that this is not the correct way to order service since this type of connection doesn't use a modem. Is that the correct page? If not, is there some sort of phrasing I should use that would make a phone rep know what I'm talking about?

DOCSIS 3.1 SSL Issues...
Ok guys, this is driving me up the wall. For the past few months, I've been having issues with SSL connection resets. This has happened on a Mac, a PC, an Android Phone, etc. I've tried rebooting my modem and my router, and I've switched out the Netgear router Comcast provides for DOCSIS 3.1 3.1 customers with my old RT-AC68U. I'm fed up at this point, because it's interfering with everything.
I can't find any way of viewing logs on the TC-4400CMT. However, I did just notice that the number of correctables are INSANELY high. Anyone have any ideas? Speeds are normal. Also, when I was on DOCSIS 3.0 I never had issues. Even upgrading to 3.1, I didn't have issues until a 3-4 months ago. This is for a modem that has been up 20 days (basically since the last time I troubleshooted).

Customer Owned SB6183 won't respond to DHCP requests
Subject pretty much covers it all. Seems likely it was a Comcast network issue (they do own the DHCP servers even if I own my modem) but Comcast technical support doesn't seem to grasp much beyond "reboot your computer, power cycle the modem". Sadly the only alternative in my neck of the woods is U-Verse and my local copper plant is trash so that's 12MB on a good day. Perhaps I'll Wireshark the link between the modem and my router to see just how often the router asks for an IP address and what response if any (timeout?) it gets.
Anybody else in the Chicago area see anything similar today?

[Connectivity] Dropping DHCP lease times... maintenance scheduled?

prior to Feb 2 - lease time had been the usual 345600
Thu Feb 2 - lease time drops from 345600 to 84600.
Wed Feb 8 - lease time drops to 7200
Thu Feb 9 - lease time increases to 84600 (maintenance cancelled due to snow storm?)
Tue Feb 14 - lease time drops to 7200
Looks like Comcast may be trying to fit some weekend maintenance into the picture. I wonder what is changing?
