Replace drop to house: Any way to get cable buried same day?

$

I'm about due for a replacement drop to my house, since my cable (RG6, presumably) has been in service since 1994, and is presumably nearing "end of life". Internet levels are OK, but enough signal problems on cable (TV) to be annoying. Question: Any way to get the cable buried the same day it is replaced? I *ROUTINELY* see cable replaced, and left in yard for 2 weeks or so. If a compression cable-end can be better than a crimp-on cable-end due to the crimp deforming the cable, I can only imagine what people walking on (or driving over) the cable does to long-term signal quality. I'm bothered enough by this to switch to FIOS. At least with FIOS, when usually seem to drop/bury at the same time.

[Speed] Jacksonville, FL - Gigabit Advertised - No Availability

So I've noticed recently (over the last few months), Comcast has been advertising Gigabit service in the Jacksonville area. However, every time I call to inquire about the service, they act like they don't even know what the service is. Needless to say, they just keep coming back with the whole "Extreme 150 is the fastest we offer"...Does anyone know what's going on in this market? I've even read news articles saying DOCSIS 3.1 based Gigabit is available in this area.

Comcast RG6 connectors were put on when Comcast installed, so it's not the aftermarket handyman special.) How do I convince Comcast there's an actual issue they need to fix here? TV service blinks in and out about the same time the cable modem service takes a nosedive.

Since Comcast Supports Several Modems with 16x4 Bonding Capabilities, I was wondering If anybody out there with these modems on Comcast is seeing 16 channel DS bonding or at least more the 8channels bonded. COMCAST Data Usage Meter

$

Comcast's Data usage meter is totally worthless. No breakdown by Video/Gaming/Downloads/Web Surfacing. No independent means of monitor data traffic thru ARRIS SBG6700AC. If COMCAST is treating data usage as a Utility then it regulated like your Electric/Water or subject to the standards used by the states for Gas Pumps at gas stations. This is where Internet companies violate FTC, state consumer protection, and weight-and-measures standards or regulations all over the place. You cannot charge for a metered commodity without having that meter registered, calibrated, and available for audit at any time. Data transmission is most certainly a commodity. 1's and 0's are all the content there is and the other attribute is rate which is also a meter. To do this within strict expectations of weights-and-measures best practice, your account should have a serial number of the running GB you use. Each bill then merely prints the starting and ending serial number. There should be no hard reset and blackout on the meter. You should be able to audit its progress at anytime. If you are going to charge by the byte then give me an detailed usage meter either online or as a downloadable app. At least the wireless companies that have a usage meter can break this down even if setup a mobile hot spot.

[Speed] Will Comcast ever increase Performance past 25Mbps?

$

I was browsing new customer pricing in my area and noticed that Comcast is offering 200Mbps as a $13 upgrade from the base 25Mbps performance in the TV/HSI double play packages. Why such a huge gap between the two tiers? Yes the Performance tier is generally over provisioned into 30/5-30/7 or so depending on area but its still a huge gap. It seems to me that such a huge gap in speed between the two tiers is just crazy. Even sillier is the fact that adding a single X1 DVR instead of a plain X1 HD box adds $19 to the overall cost of service, more than 200Mbps of bandwidth. I was browsing pricing as my Chinese OTA DVR (Homeworx) glitched and wiped my recording schedule for the nth time. It's getting old. Fast internet of course is the big attraction, esp. if I can get a Comcast double play package around $110-120/mo. Looks like Digital Starter + Performance + 1 X1 DVR + fees would end up right around $110-120/mo. Funny how Comcast would NOT give me such a deal when I canceled a few months ago, that would have been all I needed to stick around and not bother with the slow VZ DSL to save money.

I have been using my own Surfboard SB6190 modem for the past three weeks and was getting consistent speeds over 200Mbps but since the weekend the speeds have been capped off around 90Mbps. Comcast hasn't been able to figure out the issue and I'm hesitant to have someone come out and look since the wiring in the house and the hardware hasn't changed. Here is the data from the modem, does everything look ok?

How to configure port forwarding for RDP with 2 routers

The computer that I need to RDP to has a Comcast Business gateway with a Netgear wireless router connected which is dishing out the internal IP. I've allowed RDP connections and configured port forwarding on the Netgear to the computer's IP address for port 3389. I know that I could configure the Comcast box to just do a passthrough (I think), but other than that, is there a way to make RDP work? Thanks, Wayne

pfSense Traffic Shaping

$

I'm using pfSense as my firewall box on the Comcast Extreme 150 tier. I started reading about bufferbloat and ran the speedtest here to only find out that I was getting really bad results. I ended up playing with the traffic shaping (codel) a bit and now I'm doing quite a bit better, but unfortunately, the speed between interlan vlan's is suffering. The traffic shaping in pfSense is extremely hard to understand, as there are so many different choices and variations of shaping the traffic and every situation is different. I am reaching out to the Comcast crowd though to see if others on this tier are doing traffic shaping and what their configurations are. For me, I am using CODELQ on the WAN interface at 20Mbit/s. On the internal LAN interfaces, I have it set to CODELQ and 150Mbit/s. I know that Comcast provisions 150/20 but I find I usually get about 175/25, which gives me a bit of cushion to set pfsense to those numbers. I was hoping that somebody can post some of their information so that we can come up with a most optimum configuration for our connections. Thanks in advanced.

Packet Loss and Poor Network Stability

Hoping for some insight if anyone can help me out. I've done as much research as I could and followed up on several tests, but no luck so far. 1. Duluth, GA 2. Packet Loss averaging 1-6%, with peaks as high as 50% (Just now: http://www.pingtest.net/result/159681884.png Earlier today: http://www.pingtest.net/result/159681434.png http://www.pingtest.net/result/159678192.png) 3. Problem is consistent in that it's persistent, but usually in the 1-5% range, rarely very high. 4. Problem started on Motorola SB6141, upgraded to Arris SB6183 when told the SB6141 was EOL, no improvement. Software version: D30CM-OSPREY-1.5.2.3-GA-01-NOSH 5. Testbed is on wired connection to router(which has been replaced after problems started). PC->Router->Modem, problems occur on both wired and wireless connections. Ran several pathpings, available here: http://pastebin.com/SBmCvpvg I had a tech come out earlier today, and he check the signal and said the signal looked fine, changed out wires and removed some extra splitters from the oustide box. Checking signals, the work left the downstream power about the same, and upstream power went from low 30s to low 40s. According to the tech, sending another tech out would be useless, and him raising a ticket to his supervisor or maintenance would go nowhere and be instantly closed since the signal levels from the street are fine. Speeds are great, testing in the 80-90Mbps range, but trying to do anything p2p or gaming has become a nightmare. The rest of the household hasn't noticed, since video streams are doing fine. So far I've replaced the router, modem, and had a tech visit, so I'm pretty much at a dead end for things I can do to try and fix the issue. PingPlotter and signal levels from modem here: http://imgur.com/a/SxMbu What else can I do from here? Who can I contact, or what can I try to fix?
