I have a tp-link tc7620 modem......i see what looks like comcast trying to update my firmware to the arris sb6183 modem....but i have tp link tx7620.......What does it look like to yall? On Thu (May 25) at 10 AM my internet goes down unexpectedly. Comcast Xfinity sent me an email about a problem with my connection, but I don't see until the evening because it landed in the Junk mail folder (too many useless emails from them). Wife complains internet is down. When I come home from work (evening), I see that the modem has no connectivity (no green light). 30 minutes in call center hell and I have scheduled a service appt. for Friday morning 10-12. I made sure to give them wife cell phone number and reminded them to call ahead (because from previous experience they never call). CSR agrees that the technician will make sure signal is OK to my input box even if nobody's home. Unfortunately wife has an urgency and cannot be home. Nobody calls. Nothing is done. Call Comcast call center hell again (another 25 min.). Schedule another appt. for Sat afternoon. CSR finally tells me that techs do not do any work if nobody's home (why? That's poor service IMO. Just ask for my permission to enter the property. This is BS as we'll see in a moment). So today we come home 10 min. before appt. window. Tech is parked outside my house. Fixes connection between home cable and their main line (removes the filter) and everything is well. Explanation given by tech: - on Thu morning a Comcast tech (from a different dept., the "plant" tech) entered my premises searching for a noise source. He put some filter in (which was wrong) and killed my internet. He did not check my signal before leaving, I did not receive any notice (so they do enter your property when it's convenient for them), and "forgot" to leave a notice on my door - on Fri morning the tech didn't do anything because it's their "policy" to not do work if nobody's home. I wish the CSR would have let me know. Also, why he never called the phone number I gave them? - today, the tech did actually enter the premises and opened the input box BEFORE we arrived (he told me so). So, again, they do enter when it's convenient--and I have no problem with this. - tech claims somebody would have called us if we would not have been back at the start of appt. window (I find this hard to believe) So, long story short, I had two days without internet (except for iPhone hotspot), at least one hour of my time on the phone, and had to be home early for their appt., entirely due to Comcast screwing up.

I got the asus gt-ac5300 gaming router. It has a new setting which is called IPS=Intrusion Prevention System. Just wondering if anyone knows what these results mean. What is security Alert SSL OpenSSL ChaCha20-poly 1305 and RC4-MD5 Interger Underflow-1.2(CVE-2017-3731) mean? Also i got (CVE-2017-2011-1871) lost to what these mean.

I had my service installed on 12/31/16 around the Chicago suburbs. I inquired about the $70 deal and was told it's not available to me, I tried to press as hard as I could to get it, but they said there is no promo for that. Ok fine. So I am paying $139 a month for gigabit...has anybody got it recently? Is it still available? I can get Gigapower from AT&T and Fiber from Metronet is coming soon...

I keep getting these misc errors that force me to reboot computer to fix. I have tried to trouble shoot the wifi and it says some type of dns error of which when i look up someone said is a fancy way of saying your internet is out....but i dont think it is... I had an arris 6190 told this was part of my slow loading pages because of a glitch that needs new firmware, then i went out and bought the netgear 1000 and I still have issues. The only other things i can change would be my asus router or leave comcast or buy all new computers. Anyone have any experience in this that can give me some direction rather than starting from new on all my gear? Thanks, Tom

Since Friday my connection keeps dropping out every 30 minutes or less. I can barely do anything online before my modem reboots. I never had this type of issue before. There been zero changes to my plan & been using comcast at the same location for over a decade. Anyone know what the issue is here? Is this an issue Comcast has to fix or can I fix it some how?

Here is what happened this afternoon, had a period of sites saying page cannot be displayed, so rebooted the gateway, after it came back up, showed utopia.net for Connection Specific DNS server for a good 2-3 minutes, then a short little disconnect, and then back to regular Comcast specific dns server Is this normal or a security risk with the Gateway?

I am currently leasing a TG1682G gateway that suffers from the dreaded Intel Puma6 chipset. After putting up with various issues related to this broken chipset, I am ready to switch to a gateway using Broadcom. Can I do that? How do I proceed and which gateway would be recommended. Thanks.

I got an email to upgrade my router/modem. I did and just received this new router/modem. The speed a very good BUT it will not connect to my ROKU 3 and cannot seem to find a fix. Read an article that said ROKU would not connect to AES but the settings in this DPC3941T are set to TKIP/AES meaning either one and it will not connect. ROKU sees it but will NOT connect. Anyone had to face this?

Hello all! I joined DSLReports specifically because I was directed here by a friend who thought I might be able to find out more about the dreaded DNS hijack "utopia.net" I looked up one day and my status went from "currently connected to Xfinity comcast" to "Currently connected to Utopia.net" Despite extensive research and measures, including virus cleaning, ipconfig renewing and releasing and DNS flushing, program uninstalling, manual DNS selection, and host file editing, I am apparently always connected to "utopia.net" through my Comcast router/model (An Arris model tg1682g) Searched far and wide for more information but it seems amazingly scant. Can anyone inform me about it? Is it a DNS hijack? a virus? Malware? rootkit? What IS it? If you have any advice on how to combat this, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks! RR

Please read in its brief entirety. I live in Rome, GA and have Internet through Comcast. The last mile is AT&T. I subscribe to the 10/1 tier through Comcast. I have NEVER been able to get more than 2 down. Comcast came out and replaced all the outside wiring (it was a mess) and then a Comcast truck showed up and made markings on the grass and road running from the pole about 1 mile away to the gray box that terminates then runs to the various trailers including mine which looks to be 4. What I intend to do is run tracerts to the servers to see how much are Comcast\AT&T then present the documentation to them. I will also document downloads that support a max of 2 down. Not quite sure yet how I will do this. I have tested this directly connected to the modem and at various times throughout the day and night as well as on different days. The whole reason to do this is that I am paying for one thing and getting only 1\5th of it. If anyone can offer any constructive suggestions please do. TIA, Avantare

Change device names to what I want with Arris TG1682g router?

I, like many others am using this standard Arris TG1682g Modem/Router. I have a number of devices on my network, (20 to be exact" and while I have enough firepower in terms of Bandwidth with Xfinity blast 250, I have a problem keeping track of all the devices on my network, and spotting new ones. Basically I just like to be able to individually name each device that connects to my router. (There is a similar function with the D-link DIR-890L/R, alowing you to give any name to an device you want) Is there any way to do that with this router? There does not appear to be a name function in the edit window. And no, I don't want to have to explain to 20 people how to change their wifi device name. Thanks!

I have an ARIN record, that has my company's name on it, but the IP belongs to Comcast. Not sure it is ours, maybe was at one point. Does anyone have a comcast Abuse@, or other email contact information in provisioning, that can identify if this belongs to us? Any help is appreciated.

I live in a community (2400 houses) that is about to sign a contract with Comcast to install fiber to the house. What equipment is installed on the outside my house ? Does the ONT require power, if so how do they get power to it ? Any other equipment besides the gateway and STB's inside ? Any pic's of the ONT would be great too :) Thanks

I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

My internet recently started going out daily for about 5 minutes.. Went thru the modem log (cm600) and found this happening everyday.. fixes quickly after the 4:14pm message (modem signals included for any concerns on that) ( I have internet only with comcast if that helps) 4:14pm----Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 time out 4:07pm-----Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out

The first of two discounts expires in July on my current Xfinity package. Triple Play base is 159.95 + hardware and taxes which adds up to 212.31. This includes the router, dvr, and two satellite units. In July the above base will increase to around 185.00 approximately. My intent is is to redo my plan at that time and drop all premium channels and maintain as much of the rest of the channel package as possible with the exception of sports channels. My current "grandfathered" package has everything including the proverbial kitchen sink, much of which we can dump at this juncture. Due to the fluctuating packages Comcast offers, it is impossible to get a reasonable estimate either online or from telephone CS agents. Zip code is 08033 if that helps. Getting 230+ d/l and 11+ u/l speeds. Currently planning to keep our landline for the foreseeable future so a new Triple Play without the premiums is my ultimate aim. Would greatly appreciate any (what I know can only be) estimates at this juncture. First discount expires 7/11 and I was told to call back on 7/7 to discuss changes so as not to be billed at increased rate. They were clear that nothing could be done prior to that date! Anyone know if Comcast has actually started installs? I live in the west palm beach, fl market announced for deployment this month. So far phone agents don't know anything of the service. I've been told by different agents, 2016, June and it'll be in the system tomorrow. None had even heard of the service before I inquired and they did a bit of research, so I went to out local sales office to inquire in person. There I had to show them the press release, to which they simply said its not yet available in the market. Seems like this was a pure fiber to the press release hail marry announcement to try to salvage the dead merger. I'm in the Joliet, IL area, and it seems since last night my internet has been flacky and only getting around 1-1.5mbps download. Upload almost seems fine but it drops out during speed test for a second or so and shoots back up. I'm still able to connect just unable to stream or download big files. Was wondering if someone can look at these power level and let me know if they're ok. Thanks.
