[CustSvc] How do I stop the lies?

Back about a year ago, I signed up for Comcast's Gigabit Pro service. I was delighted to have such great internet at my home, and at a super low cost. I told everyone about it. Talked about it twice on Reddit. Posted in industry-specific Facebook groups. Even referred colleagues to sign up. In total, I believe the account rep I was sending these people to had at least 10 people calling him looking to get it set up. No matter how many people told me Comcast was the devil, I was there telling them otherwise. Telling them how great Comcast was. How they're becoming the best ISP in the world. It took a lot for me to say that, as a great friend runs a small local ISP. About 2 months ago, I decided to move. Called Comcast, explained to the agent that I had an odd account. Was told that it wouldn't be an issue, would be moved without a problem. Called again, confirmed again. Of course, on installation day, the subcontractor cable guy had no idea what I was even talking about. 3 hours later, I settled for cable internet with the idea they'd actually hold up their end of the promise. 2 months after moving, I still don't have my Gigabit Pro service and Comcast is refusing to even look into my case where 2 of their agents told me that it would be moved just fine. Comcast is saying that since it's a specialized service, they do not have the permission to tell customers it'll be moved. Now, they're telling me I never had it. They (specifically Hakeem, from the escalations department, who's a total brick wall) cannot explain why I had a Juniper ACX2100 on the account. They cannot explain why I paid a $500 installation fee. They cannot explain why there's fiber at a random apartment in Scranton, Pennsylvania. They cannot explain why they can't go back and listen to the 2 calls from when I confirmed the move. What they can explain is how they're unwilling and unable to do anything at all to waive, decrease, or defer $5,612* of charges they're claiming it would take to get service installed at my residence. No matter how many times I bring up the confirmation of the move, where it was confirmed that I'd have no problems with my new address, they won't even apologize. Great way to treat a paying cheerleader. (* = $1,012 construction costs, $1,000 installation fee, and $3,600 of additional monthly charges)

[Price] 2 year $70 gigabit offer w/ free xFI equipment rental?

$

I was checking my upgrade deals via my xfinity account and found an offer that expires today for 2 years of gigabit @ $70/month with a 1-year agreement. They are throwing in the xFI modem/router for free (during the 2 year agreement, then it looks like it'll be charged a monthly rental). Is anyone on this offer? I currently pay $69.99 for Blast Pro 250, so this seems like a no-brainer for a penny more a month.

[NodePlus0] General Discussion of N+0 deployment activity

I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

question about triple play and 2 modems

Hello, I have a question I couldn't find an obvious answer to. My neighborhood is in the process of getting comcast installed, they hope to be installing houses by the end of the month. Anyway, I bought the netgear cm1000 on sale for $119 from costco in anticipation of getting service next month.. however what I didn't anticipate is certain channel tiers being tied to certain speeds. for example, I can get double play, 250mb and 250 channels for $129 (before hd, receivers, etc) or I can get triple play, 250mb, 210 channels for $99 a month Factoring in $40 in taxes and DVR fees, I'm looking at $169 (DP) or $139 (TP) Obviously the TP is looking more attractive, but here's the problem. The CM1000 doesn't do data/phone. I have an old zoom 5431 8x4 modem.. could I split the signal, and use that one for voice and the netgear for data? Any thoughts anyone has would be appreciated. thanks

[Mobile] Will VZW's free robocall blocking app be available to XM subs?

Will Xfinity Mobile customers also be able to use Verizon's free robocall blocking app? Or will a special XM version of this app be provided? Verizon Set To Offer Free App To Block Robocalls, New Tech To Combat Spam By Brooke Crothers, Forbes - March 24, 2019 https://www.forbes.com/sites/brookecrothers/2019/03/24/verizon-set-to-offer-free-robocall-blocking-app-new-tech-to-combat-spam-att-comcast-too/#6070996719ddquote:Verizon is getting ready to offer a free robocall blocking app at the end of this month, as it steps up efforts to combat the growing plague of spam calls. In 2019, pretty much everyone is on a robocaller's speed-dial list. That often means several spam calls per day. Verizon knows this of course. It already offers a paid blocking app for $2.99 a month. But the new freemium (free + premium) strategy means that in addition to the paid app, there will now be a free* version. Verizon expects to have instructions on how you can download and use the free app by the end of this coming week, I was told by Verizon. Currently, the paid Verizon app tries to block a suspicious call by comparing the call against a massive list of known spam numbers, which is updated constantly throughout the day. SHAKEN/STIR...what's that? The future is SHAKEN/STIR. Verizon will tap into this authentication technology to help verify that the phone number on a user's caller ID is the phone number that originated the call. To put it another way, SHAKEN/STIR (or STIR/SHAKEN as some call it) verification tells consumers if an incoming call is really coming from the number listed on the caller ID display. …Also see: https://www.verizon.com/about/news/verizon-robocallers-your-days-are-numbered-starting-march-verizons-spam-and-robocalling

[Speed] Referred by Reddit user for speed issues

Hey everyone! I appreciate what you guys do and could use some guidance. Our speeds wired and wifi aren't even close to what has been advertised. 1) Noblesville Indiana 2) We are paying for the 150mbps and wired I am only getting about 50mbps and wifi around 30mbps. 3) The issue is consistent there is very little fluctuation. 4) I purchased the modem 3 months ago. It is a Netgear CM500-100NAS Hardware Version: C312T00-01 Firmware Version: V1.01.12 5) The modem is running to a Netgear R6080 6) Only running windows defender and the vanilla security settings from Windows 10. • We are paying for the 150mbps package • Xfinity speed test is showing 29ms 56 Down and 11 Up • I use chrome for everything. I would hope to atleast get closer to 100mbps on this package. The gentlemen I spoke with on the phone said because I purchased my own modem he can't do much for me. He said that signals coming into the house are great and he showed 200mbps. My power levels seem decent but I am not an expert so I appreciate the time of you experts!

[Moving] Move Xfinity internet + TV to new address

I'm moving and the new address has modern cable TV wiring (most modern type of Comcast install with weatherproof exterior box, two boxes in fact for each unit of the duplex), if the wires are live could I just hook up the Comcast boxes and report the change of address to Comcast or do I need to put the change of address into Comcast into Comcast and then hook the equipment up. It's in the same city but most likely a different node as it's about a mile away from my old address.

MB8600 was casing my upload problem. Walled garden delay?

My plan is 150/5 which should test at 180/6. When using the MB8600 my download is always 180 so there's nothing wrong there but my upload speed lost it's over provisioning sometime around last October. The upload was constantly testing 4.65 - 4.9 and never higher. Previously it always hit 5.7 - 6 like it should. I found my old SB6121 modem and swapped out my MB8600 and the upload immediately returned to 6 with this old modem. So there wasn't anything wrong with the lines in my apartment. Is my MB8600 defective? Maybe a CMTS problem with this specific modem or with anything docsis 3.1? I tried swapping back to the MB8600 but the walled garden wont let me activate it now. Is there something like a 24 hour delay between swapping modems?

What's the point of fast download speeds if wifi can't handle it

I recently connected my laptop directly to the modem with Ethernet and did a Speedtest. I got 300 down and 20 up. On wifi, right next to the router I couldn't get any faster than 70 down. I use wifi for everything. Makes me wonder why I'm paying for bandwidth I can't even use. Seriously considering downgrading my service next month

[Event-Log] MB8600 with firmware update (8600-18.2.12) throws these logs

These log entries (almost 100% exclusively) are being thrown often enough that the event log overwrites itself: 18:55:17 Thu Apr 18 2019 Warning (5) RNG-RSP CCAP Commanded Power in Excess of 6 dB Below the Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW;CM-MAC=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX;CMTS-MAC=00:cc:fc:60:31:d1;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;18:55:17 Thu Apr 18 2019 Warning (5) Dynamic Range Window violation Although under the previous firmware I was seeing a bunch of uncorrectable codewords, I'm seeing virtually none now since the firmware update and a factory reset, and much fewer corrected codewords. I've noticed no degradation in connection but am curious about the condition that is triggering these messages. I have 16 repeats of these messages between 18:55:17 and 18:58:37 tonight, and have seen the same over the last few days.

xfi Advantage with xFi Advanced Gateway- Central Region

Question for those of you that have xfi Advantage with xFi Advanced Gateway, in the central region, which comes with Unlimited Data.... Does the unlimited data show up as a separate line item under the account plan? Does it show up on the meter? Is it listed anywhere or do we just have " xfi advantage" (one line) and that's all? Can anyone provide a screen shot if it does show up as a separate line for unlimited data?

What is wrong with this company?

I am having intermittent connection issues yet again. I thought they would’ve been resolved by now, but the crappy modem Comcast provided me with keeps on losing signal. It’s been doing this since Tuesday. I feel like I’m the only one in the area who uses DOCSIS 3.1 because none of my neighbors have issues with their connections. It seriously pisses me the fxck off because I’ve gone through so many modems yet Comcast’s workers have always tried to blame my wiring or my modems. I tried swapping out Comcast’s trash with my trusty MB8600, but it looks like Comcast’s xFi advantage limits my speeds because I don’t get anywhere near a full gigabit when I use my own modem. I’m seriously sick of this bullshxt company and its antics. Why doesn’t Comcast try having competent tech support and home technicians for a change instead of ones who just scratch their heads and say, “I dunno, just get a new modem” when that’s exactly what I’ve done?

Multiple accounts in one address?

So we signed up for Comcast Business internet recently. The rep we called did not offer a plan that does not include a voice line. It's a waste of money and we do not need it. We are well within the first 30 days to cancel without any ETF, however. Recently, I came across a link in business.comcast.com that has a very straightforward $50 for 25Mbps line, no install fee. Can only be ordered online. And the system is actually letting me order it. Somehow the system doesn't detect the existing a/c or choosing it ignore it, I don't know. This will cut my monthly bill in half and is all I need. My rep simply blew me off. Even after I sent him screenshots, he is simply pretending that it doesn't exist. Would it work if I just go ahead and order online and cancel the current service? I don't want to be without service in between, so I will only cancel the old a/c after the new service gets installed, if it does, that is. Thoughts? Will save me a pretty penny really over 24 months. Thanks!

[Firmware] MB8600 firmware updated

After the other Firmware update topic I decided to reboot my MB8600 just now. Upon reboot it went into the 2nd reboot cycle. Sure enough the firmware updated from 8600-6.1.1.19 to 8600.18.2.12. The Cable Modem certificate number changed as well. Also noting some other/new info/messages. My Event Log now shows something I had never seen before. DS profile assignment change. DS Chan ID: 32; Previous Profile: ; New Profile: 1. REG-RSP-MP Mismatch Between Calculated Value for P1.6hi Compared to CCAP Provided Value Also on my OFDM channel, which has never shown any errors for me, now is showing a ton of "Corrected" errors while the SNR is only showing 16.1 dB.

Currently I have SMCD3G-CCR with Comcast Business and static IP. I am upgrading my speed to 150M and apparently they have to replace the gateway. What modem/gateway is recommended as a replacement for SMCD3G-CCR?

Xfinity Gigabit vs AT&T Fiber

I have AT&T Fiber (1 Gbps) at home in Irvine. I will be in Fremont for a few months and want to know which is faster/better/reliable Xfinity Gigabit or AT&T Fiber. I would assume both services are fiber (new construction) and I will be using Ubiquiti network equipment USG Pro (hence will go for the bypass with AT&T). Which service should I opt for? Will I have a faster connection to my home network (Plex/Nextcloud, etc...) in Irvine if I opt for AT&T? I also see the option for Gigabit Pro (2000 Mbps) but the pricing is a bit steep at $299 per month. $120 per month is probably my max.

Anybody have a 1682G bonded to more then 24 DS channels?

netcool here says my area should have 30 DS-SC QAM channels but my TG1682G seems to only want to bond to 24 of them. So does anybody have a 1682G bonded to more then 24 DS channels?
