Comcast is starting to wire the road that I live on and has marks spray painted all over the road cause it's a all underground build and in front of my house they have a square with MP in the square, is there a meaning for that.

Netgear IPv6 Problems With Comcast
I live in Montgomery County, MD and I currently have the Netgear RAX45 router which is connected to an Arris SB8200 modem. Consistently IPv6 disconnects after an hour or two and the only way to get it back is to reboot the router. I also tried IPv6 with the Netgear R6900P and the Netgear R6300 with the same results. I tried this with a different modem with the same results. Anyone else having IPv6 problems with a Netgear modem?

[Equip] Just a question to see if this can be done.
Years ago I wired a friend's place with cat6 because they only had one thing that needed wireless so they got a Netgear wireless router and used the ethernet ports on the router.
Now he has a bunch of wireless gear that isn't getting good connections so he wants to install a mesh setup for the wireless but will still need the wired connections.
The mesh router he is looking at has one ethernet port in and one out with 3 wireless satellites.
Is it possible to wire the modem into the mesh router then the other port to a 6 port switch for the wired gear?
I have read articles online that are confusing and I always get great answers here.

This is just thread wondering no matter your speed are you using the latest modem with Xfinity since almost all of their plants have DOCSIS 3.1 active now. If so what modems are you all using?

[Speed] Really long record of low speeds
Hi folks,
We currently have the "up to...200mbps" plan. Unfortunately, I have never been able to get above 35mbps and regularly we are stuck around 15mbps with around 2-4 mbps up.
Comcast has come out, re-ran the line from the pole to the house, moved the box on the outside of the house (claimed it was a distance issue from the box into the house), etc. still to no avail. We have the unlimited bandwidth package.
We had the same results on a lower plan as well. We have also swapped the modem 3 times.

Hardware decision.
I don't really know where to put this, so I'm putting it here.
I'm on the Xfinity Gigabit plan. I have a new Arris S33 modem and a new TP-Link AX55 WiFi/router. No sooner did I get everything up and running did I run into the stories about the TP-Link/Avira debacle.
Now I have a new Motorola MG8702 modem/WiFi/router that Xfinity doesn't know how to provision. The S33 pulls down 950Gbps. And after three hours and two Xfinity agents, the best they can get out of the MG8702 is 2-300Mbps. Ultimately, they gave up and called it Motorola's problem.
Question for the Court of Public Opinion: Persist with the Motorola or rest assured that TP-Link has or will resolve the issue with Avira?
Sorry if this is vague and uninteligible but I have a Comcast headache.

[E-mail] Comcast.net emails on inactive account
Switched to WOW a year ago after 36 yrs. with Comcast. No problems with our 7 comcast.net email addresses until Mar. 20, 2022. All went dead. Managed to log into comcast.net and autoforward 6 of the 7 addresses, but not the primary address. Can't get into that as I think I disassociated my cell phone number as I did the autoforwarding on the other 6 emails. Called Comcast and they say nothing they can do since an inactive account. When I left Comcast, they said the emails would all stay active and they have. Until Saturday. Just need to get into that last primary email and set it to autoforward.

[Caps] 1.2TB cap is not enough in 2022...
I've been able to get by without a unlimited data usage plan for quite some time now but over the past year to year and a half my usage has crept up and up.
Comcast claims only 5% of users will reach the cap but yet sells unlimited data bundled with their Xfi complete and advertises it pretty frequently. That 5% seems like a lie from the advertising on this.
Since I do rent their gateway I guess i can add for $11 a month extra but still it's BS because they can. We all know damn well caps are not about congestion but another way to force more money out of people.
Honestly they need to bump the cap up to 2TB if they want to keep behind their 5% claim but that's not going to happen. 1.5 TB would be a nice improvement since they want to be stingy.
But hey it's "Comcast" after all.

5th US Added
Service went down for about 15-20 minutes around 1am. Went from 4 US to 5 US. The ATDMA symbol rate on the new one is 2560 instead of 5120, and it is at the highest frequency. Any meaning to this difference?

[Firmware] MB8611 Software update
I had to power down some equipment today to move furniture and a few electrical plugs work. Powered modem and router back up and now I notice my MB8611 modem is using updated software. Was 8611-19.2.18. Now it's showing 8611-19.2.20. I was not paying attention to the modem as it was powering back on and nothing was indicating in the Event Log.
I checked for a firmware/software update not all that long ago but nothing. I cannot be sure if the modem updated today with the power cycle or it had updated at a earlier date and I missed it.

Does Xfinity hide their fiber plans?
I'm shopping for fiber internet in Chicago and according to the sales reps that I've chatted with, I'm eligible but it seems really sketchy to me. Every other ISP I've talked to doesn't have fiber in my area and there is literally nothing on Xfinity's website about ANY fiber plans. Every time I look all I see is cable. That said, the sales reps have assured me that its a fiber-only network with no cable modems. When I asked why they don't advertise these plans online, they said that I'd have to ask the marketing department. Am I getting scammed? Fiber-only internet seems like a pretty big selling point, especially now. Why would they hide it?

[Speed] Got my ATT Fiber today. Later Xfinity
After a 6yr wait ATT finally finished the fiber install in my area. Getting 945 Mbps down and up and loving it so far. Going to test it for a few days before I turn my xfinity internet off. I never had a issue with xfinity but after 10+ years of using it at different locations I needed something different.

Xfinity Rewards
This was discussed within another topic recently...so I went ahead & signed up for the program. When I did this, one of my "offers" was a $50 Visa gift card, no strings. So I clicked on the offer & it asked a couple questions & then told me it had been submitted & I should receive it in 6-8 weeks. Not really expecting anything to come of this, I was surprised earlier this week when it showed up in my mailbox! :D I have no idea why/how I qualified for this, but I imagine it has to do with length of time being with Comcast & how many services I have - thought I'd share with everyone, in case others might find they have some good offers waiting. ;)
edit: the envelope the card came in had "xfinity mobile" on the front upper left corner, so maybe it's because I have XM...

Higher upload speeds "in some markets"?
I ran across this article which contained this nugget:
In addition to expanding its network, Roberts said Comcast is also ‘moving aggressively on the path to 10G” and has already rolled out higher upload speeds in some markets. It will continue to expand this capability in 2022 and beyond, he added. (emphasis mine)
Do we know anything about what "higher upload speeds" Comcast has rolled out and in what markets? Unless they're talking about Gigabit Pro moving from 2 to 3 gigabit/s, then this is the first I've heard of this.

[Rant] Download congestion at peak times. Amazing Comcast!
So over the past few weeks been trying to figure out why my download speed will dump down to 600-700 Mbps at peak times. Sometimes it will dip down to mid 500 Mbps. I'm on a gigabit plan. I haven't posted about it until now.
Multiple speed tests to multiple sources all show the issue.
I tested with Xfinity's own app speed testing to the gateway and that says I need to update my gateway and it can't keep up. Real nice suggestion when I already have an XB8...
I was able to get somebody to check the node usage and they said average DS utilization was around 45%
Perhaps the congestion is higher up the chain but multiple sources all show it at peak times it seems.
Not sure what's going on but around 11PM to midnight the congestion is gone as typical.
I wonder if I should file another useless FCC complaint go though a bunch of techs telling me nothing is wrong lmao.
But pretty much this is a rant because there is nothing I can do it fix it and comcast can clear themselves of the issue saying speeds are not guaranteed. It of course is still usable but pure BS.
