Comcast supposedly extending service here soon - hookup question

$

I'm stuck in one of those rural areas with only DSL available, but Comcast has service nearby that the township says they'll be cutting Comcast a check to extend here soon. Apparently, one of the township supervisors(?) lives just up the road and wants it. That's the only reason it's finally happening here. Still not convinced they'll hook us up even though we signed up when the township asked. The house is 1700ft off the road with no existing coax. Anyway, I need to know if there are different options for modems etc. I only wire my stuff, so I would need one with ethernet so I can use my own router. I'm also wondering what speeds I can expect here. I'm going to be rather pissed if they try to tell me it's only going to be 100mb. They're offering people in the city like 800mb over the same coax, right? I also plan to have internet only, no TV. Spectrum supposedly has a line on this road, but only services the next township (maybe a mile down the road). Would much rather have had them. I'm kind of curious if those township deals are usually specific to "residential" internet and businesses can make deals with whoever they want. We're a farm, so we can technically do things as a business instead of a resident.

Jump in Downstream power levels

Seemingly overnight my downstream power levels jumped from 0-1dbMv to 5-6dbMv. While I know its still in spec is this anything to be concerned with? This is what they are at now and I swear just a couple days ago they were at 0-1 on all channels. I have not changed anything in setup.

New to Comcast and questions about speed

Just switched to Comcast from Wide Open West. We switched because of service issues and continuous problems with upload speeds. We work from home and it was at the point of either we were going to have to go back to the Office or change our ISP. Well we changed our ISP. We have our own modem Netgear CM 1000V2 and router Google Wifi 3 puck(Wifi 5) system the original not the newer Nest. The plan we purchased is the 600 down and 20 up. We are always getting the 20 up and over actually. The download speed is about 170 around the main puck that is wired to the Modem not the satellites. I had expected much better download speeds. My question is will a Wifi 6 router system improve the download speeds? All devices in the house support Wfi 6. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I have the Comcast 400/10 plan. I just noticed it went up to 400/20. I'm actually getting about 445/24 speeds now. I didn't get any notice from Comcast about speed increases. Is this just temporary or a permanent increase? Just curious. Thanks. Becca

Looking through cablelabs certification list there're arris s33v2 and sb8200v2, looks to be different from hardware versions which sb8200 already has 7? I was wondering if anyone knows if these v2 versions are already out and what's the difference between v1 and v2, and also if they are out how to get it, do you just buy new s33 and hope its v2? p.s also looks like netgear cm2500, cm3000 and cm3050 are coming out.

Arris TG4482A, MSO login and POTD abuse

I'm a new Xfinity subscriber, and after a cranky interaction with their tech support, I got email bombed from the Xfinity service email account and someone logged into our Comcast leased modem/router with the MSO login and password of the day; they then set it to bridge mode, disconnecting me. I complained to Comcast and they acknowledged that they still use the MSO login and that they don't even reset the POTD daily, but rather....whenever? But no worries, they're going to "investigate." Anyway, I can't figure out how to disable MSO login from the admin settings and Comcast ain't telling. Arris wasn't any help either. I'm hoping someone here knows, otherwise it looks like I'll be shelling out for my own gear. I'd appreciate any advice for getting rid of MSO and any other secret accounts. Thanks.

[Equip] XB7 Technicolor CGM4331COM/Arris TG4482 - Wireless AX(Wi-Fi 6)

Looks like a new xfinity gateway passed through testing. No idea if it's going to be called the XB6 still, probably XB7 or something. Model number seems to be CGM4331COM. The test report mentions that it has 802.11ax. Looks like this unit may only have 4 antennas(4x4 AX on both bands). The current XB6 are a 2x2 N 2.4 GHz + 8x8 AC 5 GHz design(I believe it has a total of 12 antennas as a result). See - https://fcc.io/G95/4331X Submitted shortly before it, are two other Technicolor devices called the XHR1-TC and the XHU1-TC. The XHU1-TC might be something like the current XB6 power supply, but upgraded? Its description is listed as "LTE power supply." The XHR1-TC is listed as a Zigbee repeater. No idea if this will have a fan, but the label does say 12V/4.6A, so 55.2 watts, so I guess it will. The original Technicolor XB6(CGM4140COM) had a 60 watt power supply. Edit: Changed title to reflect XB7 Edit2: Title updated again to mention Arris version if it arrives.

[Business] What deals are Comcast Business doing for upgrades right now?

I have 150/20 for $104.95 a month. Has anyone been able to get 300/30 for less than the $180 advertised on their page? Or do they have any other deals they're not advertising right now? Usually calling in to upgrade ends up being a long time on the phone so I just wonder if it's worth the time.

[WiFi] Does Arris Surfboard SB6183 support Xfinity Superfast internet?

$

Yesterday, I upgraded my Xfinity Internet service to "Superfast". This is supposed to give me approximately 600 Mbps download, 15 Mbps upload. I've read that it can't support up to 686 Mbps download. Using various speed test sites, including Xfinity, I'm getting around 500 Mbps on average. My typical experience with my Xfinity Internet speed has been that is usually exceeds the speed of my plan by about 10%. Is this a limitation of my modem, or should I contact Xfinity and ask them to check to ensure my signal is OK? I appreciate any input!

[Bill] Cancelling xfinity internet

We currently have xfinity legacy tv, and internet. We will definitely be cancelling their internet service sometime soon. Our bills are usually generated on the 21'st of the month, to cover from the first day of the next month and onwards. My question(s) - When is the last day I can cancel the internet and have it not appear on next month's bill? Can I cancel over the phone?

Has anyone switched from Comcast Business to Residential?

I'm thinking of doing this and want to know if I'm likely to run into any problems. I want to keep using my own modem (S33) and upgrade from Business 150 to Residential Gigabit. I'll probably be doing it a few months from now so there's fewer months remaining on my contract (there's supposedly a $35 a month termination fee). My main concern is continuity of service. I'd like to not have my service disconnected for a few days during the process. Has anyone here done the switch? Please tell your stories, thanks.

Comcast Xfinity changes the old Gigabit Pro plan name to Gigabit X3 In a move that is accustomed to Comcast, their fastest residential plan that was named Gigabit Pro in their 2015 debut, has now been changed to Gigabit X3. It was discovered during an account update, that the new 2022 service rates changed names in every division except the northeast (which involves the 14 NE states). https://madgigabit.com/2022/04/06/gigabit-x3-replaces-xfinity-gigabit-pro-name/
